You know Drifter, you're alright, I dont care what everyone else says about ya on TF .  That was quite a bit of work to go through compare tires and get information and I cant begin to tell you how much I appreciate it.

You did help me solve another mystery too.  Those have an 85,000 mile warranty on them with a UTQG of 420.  Which means they would last 4.2 times longer than a tire with a UTQG of 100.  Which means that a tire with a UTQG of 100 would be somewhere in the area of 20,000 miles of tread life.  Yeah, I know there are a lot of factors in there, but the UTQG wasnt meant to be precise but a rather a way to get an 'idea' of how long the tire should last.  So that means that the tires Ive looked at that had a UTQG of 280 should have a tread life of somewhere in the area of 50,000 miles but probably realistically around 35,000 - 40,000 which isnt too bad in my opinion.

Anyway, I was just finally glad to finally be able to equate that number in rough terms to mileage life.  I do appreciate you going through all the trouble to help out Drifter.  Im hoping to be able to put on some tires in the next week or so, so I will let everyone know what I decide to go with.

SyntheticShield,

Didn't find what tire brand you have on right now.

As my signature says, I'm driving a 2001 Wagon (StreetEdition) and had 6 spoke 16"" rims like you with Firestone Firehawk GTAs on it. The first set lasted me 65,000 miles.

Then I had the same problem as you did with replacing them. What I ended up doing was buying a set of 2003 5 spokes with the same tires on e-bay, new off the car, for $530 ($370 +S/H). If you deduct what it costs you for the tires, mounting balancing..., you get brand new upgraded rims for only $120. And, I still am thinking of selling my old rims on e-bay. So I'll probably break even!!

Hope this helps!

Daniel, I am very happy with my Kumhos and will buy them again come time to do so.

As for the Kona rims, they are the same as the stock 16's from 2002, other than the fact they are machined on the outside.

I had my s2 rims on my car before my 15's and now my 17's.

I still have my s2's and don't know right now what I'm going to do with them.  I need to have them all checked for warping/dents and I may fix them or sell them.

Well, I deeply appreciate everyone's help, but I considered the Falkens, the Kumhos, Yokohama's until I was blue in the face.  I liked each of them but I just couldn't see paying $90ea for tires, some going for over $110+.  That to me is a little outrageous.  But on the other hand, I did have specific criteria and that is going to cost when you get specific like that so though I didnt care for the prices, I knew I would have to pay a little to get what I wanted.

That being said, everytime I looked at the tires trying to make a final decision I just couldnt get past the feeling I should wait, so I did.  Well, the waiting paid off.  An SVT owner/customer in Tulsa were chatting about my delima and he had been looking for tires as well, but had came across a tire that offered everything I wanted and at a price that I couldnt touch anywhere.

The tires are Fuzion ZRi.  It has  a 320 tread life, AA traction, and it is definately a wet weather tire.  I would like to have more of an all season tire, but my emphasis was on wet weather and that means giving up snow traction any way you slice it.

You cant beat the price at less than $70ea.  The reviews are good, it has the tread life I was after but couldnt get in the other tires I was considering, it has the AA traction which I dont recall right now if the other tires I looked at had that, I dont think they did, and the price is just about perfect.

So I appreciate everyones help in my quest to get tires.  I hope to have these tires soon enough and once I do I'll do a product review once I get some miles on them.

Well, congrats. Tires are always a compromise of some kind. Not an easy choice to make.

Hey babe - well, I'd hate to part with them really...right now I'm just toying with the idea.  I actually was able to hook up with someone and got some 15's last year fairly cheap.
I'll keep you in mind though!
