I was talking to my mechanic and my parts manager today ....i found out that there are two aftermarket companies that are building complete computers that we can put into our cars that are easily programmable. I am having trouble finding the names of the companies...i was wondering if anybody else had heard anything or know what's going on with that...the price ranges from 2500 to 3500 for them...let me know
wowsers, for that much money I'd say you are talking about a Pectel or something. A nice chip from focus-power will give you a very decent gain in both horsepower, torque and driveability though, and it's customizeable. What do you need a standalone for?
Pectal does make a stand alone ecu for our cars, I'm not sure if it will work with the svtf.
As of right now I beleive thaat is the only one, I have heard rumors of a new data logger comming out. I assume you are looking into this for your turbo set-up? A properly tunned chip will provide all of the things you need to run a safe turbo set-up. And they are a heck of alot cheaper.

yeah they are talking about a computer that completely replaces the stock computer. installation involves taking out the stock computer out of the svtf and replacing it with the new one...i don't want a chip...i have seen the data logger...it's 450 bucks... i am trying to keep up with it from my local garage...it doesn't change any of the stock settings to give you more power until you manually go in and change it with the software. i was just wondering...and now they told me that if i need to have my stock computer tuned they will do it for me under the table...that means that i don't need that kit that i have seen for it for $5800... but anyway anymore info would be nice if you here or read anything from any other companies.
Some-one enlitghten me please. I'm from the old school that basically said for more power, change out the jets in your Holley and adjust timing cam and dwell.
What does this device do? Does it come with pre-programs or require tweaking on a dyno.
The computer is set to your stock settings... the computer is able to be programmed easier than the stock computer. so there is more software for it to be programmed so you can use your lab top...instead of taking it to a garage
i was completely unaware of that at all...thanks for the infor...it's about time somebody answered me even about the software...but i haven't really been online lately either so..my bad
Basically the problem is this....the SVT uses a Black Oak Technology PCM, which is a much different standard the pretty much everything. So we are unable to buy a pre-programmed "chip" and just slap it in for performance gains. Options are, ah-hum..were limited to taking out your PCM and sending it off for re-programming then re-installing it. Took quite some time for other options to come out.
