I have heard from my dealership...and from other people that ford has dropped svt totally...anybody else know what's going on or heard anything different...it's weird that they would get rid of their performance end of the company..
From what I have heard they are revamping the SVT line. New models will not come out for another year or two. They have said that they are dropping the SVTF but plan on a new Cobra & Lightning..
Yeah, they are redoing the SVT line. There was first talk of them halting everything, then putting out the Cobra without the SVT badge. Now its gone from that to "revamping SVT" as a whole. I think you will see another SVT Focus. The SVT Cobra will be seen again too. The SVT Lightning is the one that is in limbo, and wont be seen again for a while, if at all.
we wont be seeing another svtf...they (so i was told) weren't selling enough of them...specially with the srt4, ion redline, and the now new cobalt ss coming out...i think the srt4 and the redline suck...i kind of like the cobalt ss...but anyway...in some ways it would be nice to not see the svtf come back...then our cars are somewhat rarer than that are now...if you own an svt that is..i love mine but a friend of mine and i are the only two in our city that own one...and i think that's pretty sweet...we aren't much of a threat when we race certain vehicles...but they are fun as hell to drive
One of the diggest problems I see with Ford dropping the SVTf is that they loose wat little market they have/had. With all the companies comming out with performance 4 cyl. ford needs somthing to stay in the market. As it is Ford upped the HP in the standard focus with the duratec but there are still other companies with a car the same size as the focus with more HP and about the same sticker price. Also the ZX4 ST is a joke IMO. The standard Mazda 3 (ya it starts about 18K but so dose the ST) comes with the 2.3 and more HP than the ST.
If Ford doesn't have anything to compete with the Neon or Cobalt they will only have the Mustang which is not in the same class. Ford will than loose the 4cyl tuner market and be relying only on the low end entry level Focus. Unless thats what they want to do.
if they keep the svtf they are talking about dropping a 6cyl into it...i hope like hell they don't...i would like to keep it a four...i like it when you pull up to v6 or v8 powered cars with a four and put them into the ground...well...with some work...but some cars we can beat pretty much stock...
