anyone able to compare/contrast
the AEM CAI system and the AEM V2 system?
specifically for the SVTf,
that is
(from what i can tell on their site,
which is unfortunately MSIE specific,
they do make a V2 system for the SVTf).
also,
any recommendations
for an online vendor from whom to pick one up
for a good price and minimal hassle.
google's top hit is http://www.fox-performance.com
which has the blue, svt specific CAI
for $237 and free shipping.

AEM doesn't make a V2 model for the svtf. That is a good price on the AEM intake. The only other place I've seen a AEM cai for the svtf is http://focusperformance.com, but they sell it for $280. I have dealt with them in the past and they were alright. But for that price and free shipping that is a deal.

my 2 cents-stay away from aem cai-we put one on the race car originally because it was the only one available at the time-on a hot day on track that sucker (literally) would pull almost a quart of oil through the mass air and tp-a p.o c. build a catch can for the system but then built up too much pressure internally so oil would come out of the valve cover. granted when i instruct, my car sometimes is run between 5 and 7 k rpm for 4 hours in a weekend, but............got the steeda shorty as soon as it was available.

heh,
way too late.
the CAI went on about 6 weeks ago.
other than an odd squeeking noise
when the throttle's about 1/3 open,
i haven't had any problems.
definitely no problems with oil.

its not bad on the street except for water issues. watch out for deep puddles. too bad, i sold mine for a 100 bucks not that long ago. and like i said-you'd never run at the rpm's i do for as long as i do on the street (at least w/o getting locked up lol). but i was unimpressed with aem's reaction when i called to explain the issue. with the steeda the breather hose is after the maf ala stock setup. and seat of the pants i dont feel any performance difference. i do remember that sound you describe.

i just make sure i hit the gas hard enough
that the squeek sounds like supercharger spool
;>
so far,
no major puddle incidents,
and the last 48 hours have been a real test.
