ok, went to the drags. did pretty crappy for what i know the car can do. pulled 15.4's but mph were 85-90-91.6.   problem was my traction during launch. i'm running fuzion zri's. had a problem with breaking loose every time no matter what i did (hard launch, slipping the clutch, feathering the gas).  also experienced wheel hop.
my thoughts were that i have a set of bfg scorchers in the garage, which would most likely help. but was also thinking poly bushings to stiffen the front up some. i know that lakewood makes a traction bar setup for the frontend of the zx3 zetec, but havent been able to find if it will work on the svt.
any other thoughts on what i might do also? the car has a slip for 14.06 in the 1/4, so im damn neared 1.5 seconds off of it.
might just have been a slippery track that night too.
then again, i broke loose thru the lights and missed fourth at the end the first run and still had a 15.4, but the others were clean except the launch.

any thoughts?

Have you tried playing with tire pressure? Contrary to popular opinion among drag racers, radial tires get a bit more traction when they're a little over inflated.

I agree on the playing w/ tire pressures.  I know many who lower it and then there are those who bring it up.

Of course my father runs full on race slicks and the classic narrow track tires on the front, but he's pushing with a RWD car and doing 10 sec 1/4 miles.

The focus needs to be played with so far as drag racing is concerned.  You're avoiding the water when staging I assume?

that was another problem, there was no way to avoid the burnout box. you had to go through it.  i was doing good burnouts after the box, but got to thinking...it was mostly fwd cars running so the back tores were probably dragging water through the lights.
come to think of it, my buddy' stock svt could only manage a best of 16.7.  maybe it was track conditions.
but i still want to reduce the wheelhop in mine. that doesnt help when launching....
we did think about tire pressures but didnt have a tank so we could try different pressures. no way to refill tires.
im definitely doing poly bushings including the swaybar, but wanted some other possible thoughts on it too

14.06, what have you done to your car?????????? no way will a stock SVTF run 14.06 in a 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile is more like it. I mean that is almost as fast a a new mustang GT or a Dodge SRT-4, come on share the secrets.

this sounds like so many kids driving their 5.0 mustangs and claiming they are 12 second cars but when they get to the drag strip all of a sudden they are only turing in the mid 14's or low 15's. seems like every one has a 12 second car on the street on a Saturday but it turns out that on Sunday it loses some power.

H&R makes good product so I'm thinking that the issues are elsewhere.
You don't mention a LSD so the question is: Did you feel any side to side action during the wheel hop? You might be able to counteract that by changing the pressure on the side that broke loose first. Then try again and just work side to side on the pressures.

Nice time...actually, excellent time.  considering my Dad's 1970 Camaro should be pulling 10's and will have nearly 700hp I'm impressed.

Looks like you need to work on your reaction time, but it's not bad.  I noticed the RT of your competition there...nice time!  You were still able to pull away on all markers though.  Impressive.

I haven't a clue what my stock 2.3 would get...probably 17's but I'm not testing it yet.  Too much of a warranty left.

but still looking for suggestions
