So the other day I called  VOLANT which is pretty close to my house and ask if they have an intake for my 2003 Focus SVT.   I speak to the tech and he asks me if he can use my SVT to design their new intake w/the cold air attachment.  We set up all the contact info and he said that he would be contacting me next week.  He said he would like to get a baseline dyno stock and then with the intake.  I do have a MAGNAFLOW catback installed, but he told me that it would be ok as long as I had my motor stock (I only had the COOL-FLO which I took off).   They'll install the prototype, dyno it on the car then give me a great deal on the whole package.  I'll keep you posted as to what is going on.

That's AWESOME!!! I know for a long time they've been getting pressure from SVT owners to design one, but they were having a problem finding someone that would let them loan the car for the design...this is awesome...I'm pretty sure that SVT owners are gonna be going crazy for what has become one of the most popular intakes for the Focus (soon to be in all variations of it).  Now, who has a PZEV near them?

GREAT!   Just in time now that I paid $199 for my Cool-Flo....I guess once they do the dyno, we can tell if they are worth it....It's too bad they won't do a dyno on your car with the Cool-Flo & Magnaflow and then do Stock Air Box & Magnaflow and then the Volant and Magnaflow...I'd like to see who much of an increase the Volant (if any) is over the Cool-Flo.  Ask them...

I really am...I installed it last Thursday and the two things I notice/enjoy most is the sound and throtle response which is awsome...I also have the 2.5" Borla Exhaust.  The build quality of the Cool-Flo is top notch and it was one of the few with the heatshield which really helps and the ITG filter which in my opinion is one of the best...Drive it hard for a while and open the hood and you feel the temp. difference around the filter versus the engine bay...Highly recommend it.

I'm not familiar with the VIS invader hood...unless it is somehow less constrictive than the stock hood, you shouldn't have a problem.  I would call the people at Focus Sport and ask them...I have no problems with it fitting even with a upper stress bar..No part of the CoolFlo sticks higher than any other part of the engine...

I'm talking about a carbon fiber VIS invader hood. The reason I ask is because its 10x lighter than a stock hood and its shaped underneath a bit different.  Not worried about it though, I have changed my mind about getting the intake.

Well depending on the shaping of it, I'd say you'd still have a 75% chance of it fitting.  The only thing it may not do well is seal on top as it's designed to.  But since you've decided to go elsewise I guess that doesn't matter huh? ;)

Are you using a short ram intake?  Focus Central makes a sweet cf hood with a scoop over where a short ram intake is positioned.

I'm not sure that the SVT airbox is in the same place as the standard Zetec airbox, so it may end up being different? Though I may be wrong, is it just that the SVT intake mani is different?

The intake is in the same spot, the intake manifold is different and the tb is in a different location.
