I don't think there are any chips on the market right now.  But, you can send the computer to super chips and they can tune it or you can also purchase the software and be able to tune it yourself.

V! Whats up! I know Don from the NE-SVT club had sent his PCM out to Superships Custom twice and had his done. Havent heard from him for awhile though. But I know for sure Superships Custom can do a reflash. NOt sure about any other companies though. There is no "chip" though, you gotta actually take out your PCM and send it to em.

i'm a bit hazy on this whole chip thing.
i'd want -very specific- things done
to the software on the car,
and it doesn't seem to me
that aside from installing software on a laptop
and doing it myself,
that i'm going to find that level of customization.
or,
when Super Chips talks about actually bringing in your ride
is that what they're talking about?
bring it in,
explain what you want done,
they put it up on a dyno and make it happen.

/me knows just enough to be dangerous, and just enough to know what should and shouldn't be worth doing, but has never been good with details.

V, here ya go bud...

http://www.diablosport.com/main.php

I did not see the Focus one listed on the Diablo site. I would definitely call them and ask them why its not there and whats up.

jhimm, I believe they can do custom programs for you. As far as superchips custom goes, all I know is that you have to take out your PCM and sent it to them do have it done.

that's a bummer.
i'm hoping to score the kind
that you can plug into the diagnostic port
(thus leaving the system stock
for those trips to the dealership) ;)
maybe no one does this for the Focus yet,
i think the one i saw was for a Civic
(on Tuner Transformations or something similar,
i can't believe i missed the Focus episode of that).

The only advantage's I can see to getting a chip for a fairly stock car is to remove the rev limiter and speed governor.  Other than that unless you have alot of mods, like turbo, blower, or extreme NA, you won't get a ton out of it.

I'm new to the team, but i have been looking into this and I found one, but not sure if it will work for the SVT.  My dad took a trip to summit and asked but I just got home so I will ask him what they said.  Anyways about that chip.  Diablo Sport makes one, so look into that one.  Steeda has the chip in their catalog.

Smitty.

afaik,
the SVT's rev limiter is deep in the red
(i accidentally bounced off it once),
so i'm happy to leave that where it is.
there are always rumors of govenors,
but i've never found it,
and i've gone as fast as i'd ever want to
(unless i moved someplace much flatter and straighter).

my #1 chip change
is to be able to truly turn off my traction control
(its always on below 20mph,
which means you're slow as paint off the line).

even simple changes like a cold-air and a cat-back
alter the engine dynamics enough
that a customized, dyno-driven ECU setting
will certainly make the car run -better-
even if it isn't necessarily any -faster- as a result.

anyone who gets something as drastic as a turbo
and doesn't have work done on the chips
is asking for trouble (opinion).

which features do you want?
that's been "coming soon" for almost a year now.

I know....it seems like they've been in the testing process for a long time.  I know they just started retesting an SVTF recently.  I don't really want any special features...I'd like to have the basic features they came up with in the last Focus Fanatics' magazine which was much better driveability, perhaps 9HP and about the same in torque increase and better idle as well as making the SVTF a much better car..so nothing fancy.

even simple changes like a cold-air and a cat-back
alter the engine dynamics enough
that a customized, dyno-driven ECU setting
will certainly make the car run -better-
even if it isn't necessarily any -faster- as a result.

When I called them, they didn't think the above would make enough a difference to customize the chip any further..Here is what I have on my SVTF...

02 Focus SVT (CD Silver)

FocusSport Air Intake

FocusSport Plug Wires

FocusSport Upper Strut Bar

65mm Throtle Body

2.5" Borla Exhaust

Steeda Short Shift

MAC Rear Engine Mount

BAT Lowering Springs w/adustable SPAX Shocks

Dual Guage Pod with Air/Fuel and Volt Meter Guages

when you got this installed,
did they have to do any cutting or welding?
when i got mine done,
they did,
and i'm starting to worry
that they sent me a 2.5" Borla
intended for a zx3/zx5 not an SVTf.

No mine fit like a glove...no cutting or welding...if they sent you the ZX3, it would be a 2.25" not a 2.5" (I think)...I thought the Borla 2.5" exhaust was for the SVTF only but I could be wrong.  But definately contact them if you had to cut or weld...that kind of beats the purpose of spending $400 on a stainless exhaust...
