I was bored today and started to browse around on ebay. I found an electric supercharger. it runs on your battery (12v source). it claims to produce 2.7 psi of boost. and that is produces this boost to 8000 rpm. the price is around $150. Does it work, if so how well. Is it worth it?
thanks

don't waste your time.
for one, they run at a constant speed. give a little boost(not even close to what they claim) but by the time you get in your mid to upper rpm range its nothing but an obstruction.
what little it does produce is eaten up by the draw on the alternator....
but if it floats your boat, go for it and waste 150 bucks and time installing....you wont notice any difference in power. this has been discussed and disproved on other sites many times...
It seems to me, either on this board or else where I saw somewhere where they had a car on the dyno and DID hook up a leaf blower to the intake and did before and after dyno runs and it had little to no effect on perfomance.
My Eaton M90 blower spins at some 11,000 RPM just to make around 8 psi, I highly doubt that a bilge pump or leaf blower is going to be able to accomplish anywhere near some of the claims I have seen.
Furthermore, a fact of physics is that compressed air (such as that from a supercharger) is going to be hotter than the same mass of uncompressed air and I have yet to see any evidence that the so called 'electric' supercharges achieve this.

It whines a lot, but I like it
Haha this stuff on ebay....you dont need to upgrade your injectors! Turbos are so ineffecient they tell you. In a way any turbo or supercharger is ineffecient compared to stock however on a good tune (spend 700 dollars or more for a SCT dyno tune) you can have a very reliable daily driven 250whp or more car that gets 23 to 30mpg.
