1) the front end of the SVT
has that odd, black flap right at the bottom.
flimsy, unattractive, appears to be non-functional.
would love to replace it with something nicer looking,
perferably color matched.

2) the indicator covers are an ugly yellowish orange,
both in the front grill and on the side.
would love to replace them with clear, or nicer yellow.

3) SVT badge is cheap, ugly plastic over foam.
(discovered this today while removing my dealership badge
and removing the "focus" lettering.
would love to get a nicer SVT badge.

4) would love to tint the windows.
oddly enough, Rhode Island appears to have
some of the strictest tinting laws in the country!
(we're lax on everything else, is why its odd)
70% maximum doesn't leave me with a lot of options.
most of the colored film i've seen is too bright a blue
to match the sonic blue paint very well,
but if it was the right blue, that might be really sharp.
70% black film isn't going to look like much.
anyone know how easy it is to get busted on this?

any thoughts or leads
on how to accomplish any of these ideas
for reasonably inexpensive amounts of money
would be greatly appreciated.

(my cat-back is in tranist as we speak, i'm so stoked)

Ok here we go,

1.)  There are several companies that make lower wraps for the foci, Wings West is just one.  I'm not sure if they will work on the svtf bumper, but I can't see why not.  Another option is to just paint it to match body color.  Hell you could do it your self some weekend, sand, prep, prime, and paint.

2.)  Clear markers on the side=dead sexy.  There are not any replacement covers for the front.  But they disrepair into the grill with the help of some Nightshades.

3.)  First mod I did was to pull the badges off my car.  As for nice svt decals, who knows just look around.  You could always find a shop that does pin striping and have them paint on the svt logo.  That would look sweet.

4.)  I have my windows tinted and have never been hassled about it, just keep it close to the legal tint.

It's a clear black paint. You can also use Testors model master clear black paint found in many hobby shops. About half the price also.

are those lights a legal requirement
since we have the indicators on the sides?
i'd love to just get the european grill replacement
that doesn't have them at all.

If it came on there from the factory, it has to be there.  They have some grills on ebay from time to time that have clear lenses.  If you are interested I can find a thread for you that will tell you how to get in touch with the seller.

Here is what I am talking about and from what I can tell, he is the only person selling them but doesn't have any up for auction right now.  I read that if you shot an email and tell him you'll give him about $75 he'll sell you a set.

thanks for the head's up.
i think the trade for clear lenses,
but reverting to the straigh line grill
and the lights behind the grill
is probably not worth an even swap
let alone $75-100 in the hole.

i'm a bit confused by your comment
about "if it came from the factory it has to be there".
that makes it sound like any and all modification
to the exterior of a car would render the car illegal.

or am i mis-parsing that?

He is just saying that if the car came with front turn signals there has to be front turn signals.  You can get the euro grill but have to still have turn signals in the front of the car, like in the Euro headlights.

You can change things, but other things are required by law like turn signals.

I say go with the Nightshades, the turn signals disappear into the grill until you turn them on.  You can also clip one of the wires on the bulb so the turn signals only come on when you use the turn signal.

i guess this is why so many cars
are switching to the euro style lights as OEM.
since the headlamps on most cars these days
straddle the corner of the body,
they shine forward and to the side,
thus eliminating the need for multiple signals.

painting something black
because i already think its too dark
isn't really the solution i'm looking for.
i don't want them to vanish,
i want them to look better.

i don't see how disabling the parking lights
can be any more legal than eliminating the turn signals?
but thanks for the head's up on that,
i've seen the thread on how to disable those.
