This morning on my way into work I noticed that one of my fog lights was out. I also noticed the other day that my lenses looked kind of yellow on the inside so I figured thsi is the perfect opportunity for my to take it apart and clean it before I get new bulbs in there. The ones that were in there were knock off's I picked up fairly cheap, hence why they only last like 6 months. So would I have to take the whole fog assembly with both lights off to take this apart or does it not even come apart?? Anyone help me out?

The bulb is attached the the socket in the back of the fog light.  A quater turn and a pull and the bulb will be out.  As for the lens, they don't come apart.  You can try and clean the lens the best you can though the back when you remove the bulb.

Alright thanks Bryant, that's what I thought. I'll just have to rig something up when I pull the bulbs out.

also - when you run a higher wattage bulb, the cheap plastic lens will yellow and get cloudy faster.  it takes longer with the stock wattage, but yellowing is pretty much inevitable.

are you sure it's yellow on the inside?

I know that clear plastic can yellow with exposure to the elements and dirt, rocks, acid rain etc on the outside.

I helped Alex out with his - they were dulling and going yellow and I showed him that product from 3M that I love.  It's a fine rubbing compound for hard plastics.  Love it lots when you have aged clear plastics...headlamp lenses, fog lamp lenses, tail lights etc.  works like a charm to bring them back to nearly new and nice and shiney.

it's made by 3M - avail. at NAPA and the like - comes in a fairly small black plastic bottle with I think purple contrasting label.  I think it says plastic rubbing compound or hard plastic rubbing compound.

I used it on my old 92 4Runner when I had her and all of those dull plastic lights, including and especially, the reverse lights came out beautifully.  Like brand new.  I'm going to have to see if I can't find a pic of my old truck.
