well, apart from the nice plastic used to construct these, they're meh.. they're alot lighter and thinner than the stock headlights. the bulbs that came with the set are H7's, both high and low beams, so there's really no difference in the beam other than how close it is to the grill of the car IMHO. now let's get started about the halo's.
when i recieved them, only 3 out of the 4 worked, then only 2, and it's not like it was an easliy hidable thing. the pasenger high beam never worked, then the drivers side low beam sh1t out, so there was no way to get around it with only have 2 halo's. but i guess that's what you get for $120. the passenger low beam also quickly filled with condesation and rusted out on me. after that happened, i decided to take them out and replace them with my stocks..
after a few months (i bought them around october i think it was) i decided to re-install them for the hell of it, sacrificing a high beam for 2 low beams that are fairly decent, and the looks i get from random people who like the looks of them i guess.. well, i washed my car and realized how the passenger low beam rusted out. there seems to be a hole somewhere in the bottom of the lens, which, when rinsing off my hood, became flooded with water then drained out. so there's one of the problems that will be nice to try to fix.. oh, there's also how they fit in the car themselves. they suck.. basically, if you just throw them in, they don't fit.. there's a nice gap along the top edge along the front of the hood, and they don't match up with the fenders by any means. but after i sat there for a few minutes, enjoying my ciga-butt, i realized i could fix this problem. so i did. now the gap isn't all that bad anymore, but it's still there..
once again, for $120 bux, they're not that bad, but don't count on them to last for too long.. i only put them in cause i felt the need to give people other reasons to look at ,y car other than the exhaust.. if there's any info i could give anyone on these headlights, or anyone wants to tell me anything about them, feel free.. just don't say how much of a waste of money it was.. i already know this.. i might try to swap in some form of fog light with the low and high beams, but i'd need to acctually think about how i'd do it before i did anything...
like i said, they're not bad for the money, but just be careful when and if you get them.. just try to see if everything works before you take the time to install everything.. you can see if the led's work with a 9 volt battery before putting them in your whip..
I live in eastern Canada and had a similar experience with the dual halo lights. I got them from Cardomain.com and they are quite an inferior product. In Canada the Hella lights are about a thousand dollars including tax. So I sort of expected a set for two hundred to be of lesser quality, but not the junk they were. One halo didn't work, they couldn't be aimed properly, and they didn't fit the fender line at all. I had to run a bead of clear silicone along where they met the fender so they wouldn't vibrate and wear the paint. After all this work, they only looked good from a distance. I tried to paint them body color later but when you paint the housings then put the lights back in it is impossible not to scratch the plastic. So I just gave up and put the stock lights back in.
On another note, is it true that a brighter bulb such as an 80/100 watt will melt the plastic stock lens? I had a set in my 1990 GTI with the four round headlights but those were glass.
