Well, I know that last summer the folks up here had a but of a caliper painting G2G that i did not manage to get to for God knows what reason, but now, im thinkin its time to do that. Calipers look kinda pooy and the drums... just look like rust. With the new white rims coming in i think i would like them to have something clean lookin going on behind them.

SO..... is this something difficult or do you think that im a big girl now and can do it myself? Also, is there a how to on this somwhere or does someone want to fill me in? I think i know how to go about it but i dont want to go in all uninformed and mess something up... im good at that :)

It's not all that hard, but it does take time.

Sunny, low humidity and warmish is a good situation.

You will need a high temp enamel (Engine Paint is good) and a steel brush to clean off the rust.

I want to re-do my calipers and do my Drums, but from what Dan has told me, to do the Drums well, it's a little bit more involved.

Dan, help here will ya?

Drums aren't involved....

Just make shure you tape and put paper on anything you don't want painted.. And I now know how to take off the drums so that is an option also..

All you need to know is sand---prep---paint

I painted my calipers with Krylon Fusion. I cleaned them, sprayed the paint in the bottom of a plastic cup, dipped a brush in the paint & brushed it on. No primer. It took, (I think), 3 coats to cover, but the stuff dries in about 5 min. I painted mine just over a year ago, & it looks like I did them yesterday.

I did mine with high temp ceramic paint. Its easy. Get ceramic primer, paint, and clear coat, and it will look better and last longer :)

Yay, other people wanna play!! haha. This could be really fun, make it a g2g, or mini g2g depending on how many people want it.

Pokes- You wanna set this up at my house? I'm all for your place, but I know you dont have a lot of room. We can paint in my garage, my dad does all the time. So dammit, if he can, so can I. What do you say?

Your house would probably be the best bet. Have the most driveway room and all. Plus Bryant, you already know where that is :) My house would be cool but i have ghetto driveway... unless we did it up in Exeter and at that. I think we have already hit the car limit ;)

OK... so the plan:

Date: Good Question
Location: Tiffs house, Londonderry
Time: that probably goes with the whole date question
What: Paintin time :)

what ya think?

Sounds good to me.. When should we aim to do this??

Even if the weather is crappy, we will be in the garage which is dry and cool..

Ok here's some date.. Pokes, Bryant, other options??

July 31st, August 7th, August 14th??

Maybe we should plan this for like somewhat mid morning, 10 ish? So we are guaranteed enough time to get it done? If something goes wrong you guys can crash at my place, not a problem, but i don't forsee it.

Tiff you have a 1 car garage right???

Putting cars in 1 at a time will be a long day and night. I suggest a good day and all do them at the same time. The "SVT" paint caliper gtg (what it ended up being) took all day and all 3 cars were worked on at the same time.

Just a suggestion here.

Any of those dates work for me also.  Since it seems like it's going to be at your place pick the date that works best for you.
