whoa no one's posted in this for a while.

ok, i just got a call from my sister - i'm more than likely going to come, but i do have to babysit my sister's dog this weekend...any problems if i bring him?

dunno if i'll be doing any painting though... i don't have any of the stuff needed.  i have a jack and stands, but the jack doesn't go high enough to fit the stands under the car (kinda stupid, huh?)

i was just thinking about this too - if this is a whole day process (including time for drying) that means that there's going to be a lot of time when we're doing nothing.  i could bring the videos of past g2g's for us to watch.

Things we need:

~ Steel Brush (for rust removal)
~ Stuff to get off all grease and debris before starting
~ Jack Stands to do all 4 at once (crap!)
~ High Temp enamel *Primer*Paint*Clear Coat* (engine paint works.... Jonny recomments Ceramic primer, paint and clear coat)
~ Paper and Tape (to take off what you DONT want painted)

And Rob... I like the idea of watching movie from past g2g... as long as it isnt from that one with you, tiff, me and Chris... thats between US damn it!! ;)

Sounds like a plan to me.  Since it is going to be MAD hot out tomorrow, we can probably head over to the neighbors pool and take a dip and screw around a bit, would be a nice break from things.

I think everyone has what they need so we should be good. Chris is going to be a pal and help with the install of my tails along with his own CAI and TB. Thanks!~!

So bring your stuff and suits, see you tomorrow!!

thanks tiff for letting us use your backyard!

here's some pics of what i did:

before: dirty calipers and drums

calipers masked off and painted

drum masked off and painted

the drum - it's actually black!

the caliper - much better; nice and shiny!

driver's side caliper...now the rust on the rotors is even more noticeable

view of both from driver's side

rear wheel on - subtle and clean

front wheel on - much better now!

No problem Pokes. I think it worked out fairly well. I'm kickin myself today for not doing the rear drums or rotating my tires but ill just do them another weekend in the soon future.

It was a great time as always, good laughs, great videos Rob!! And bad a situation as sveet03 had with his car, it was still good for some laughs. Good luck with the Tb Chris ;) Thanks everyong for coming,  always welcome here.

Oh and i've already had a few comments on my tail lights ;) Thanks again Chris!

were you all using an air brush for this
or does the heat resistant paint
which can be used for the job
come in spray cans?

i _need_ to do something
about how god awful my brakes look.

some of us used high temp engine spray paint - the 500° stuff is fine... if your brakes and stuff get hotter than that, the paint is going to be the least of your problems.  we cleaned, primed, painted, then clearcoated them.

others used a brush on kit - i don't have any info about that, but i think in some ways it was easier since you didn't have to mask off everything.

OH YEAH - sveet03 -  ya know how we were talking about the SVT sideskirts being different?  well they are on the 3 door (have that little twist at the back) but not on the 5 door - that's what our confusion was about yesterday.

sorry,
i'm being dense.
this is spray paint in a spray can,
not spray (on) paint in a paint gun?

This completely sux! - I thought this had gotten changed to sometime in mid August. :(

Guess I'll be doing mine alone sometime.   That was a damn hot day though!  Dan was in that wedding that night and so help me, being outside was not where I wanted to be.  Thankfully it all took place inside!
