I washed my 03 XZ3 today for the first time and noticed outdoor carpet type stuff for the rear fender liners. That stuff holds sand like a magnet. Whats up with that?   ;wtf

Are there any plastic liners available?

I guess I just have never seen anything like that before . . .    ;:what

Am I mistaken for some thin plastic with undercoat on it?     ;ohno

Thanks

Rich

It's been that day sence day one and I think eve nthe 07's have it. Its there as a sound deadener. rocks aren't as loud when they hit a bit of padding as opposed to hard plastic or undercoated metal. sound from the rear wheel wells would resinate through the car. This of course would causing an "unpleasant" sound according to Ford.

sometimes the folks that design cars smoke crack. they can afford it. and when you spend your days in a bodyshop you know which days they smoked it, "carpet" shoulda just used undercoat.
