Hi,

has anybody here installed the SVT gauges in a "Normal" Focus? I've done it and it works great. I've not found any topic in the selfmade,so I asked me if anyone done it.

I do believe this has been done - however, the SVT guages read a different mph max than the stock (Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong), so you need to be sure to compensate for that.

Like I said, someone correct me if I'm wrong???

Very nice gauges. I think your gauges are not advertise the right speed if you have not modify the software. You can do this at your dealer. At the moment I'm riding on 7J17 BBS 3-teilige (I dont know the right word for 3 part rims) aftermarket rims from a AUdi 80 Cabriolet. Here in Europe very rare and sought-after. Just only for a month then I'll install the winter tyres.:?

Okay wolli.  I have the SVT bezel in my closet waiting to be installed, I have been searching high and low for those mini gauges on the right hand side.  And you have installed a complete SVT gauge set.  Impressive.  So tell me what you had to do in order to hook up those mini gauges on the right hand side of the instrument cluster.

I would greatly appreciate any insight you could give me.

Hi,

all you need is the wiring diagram from this car. I've the diagram from the Euro and US Focus on CD but I've seen that some connectionsare different. You need a oil preassure switch fron the SVT, the rest is "only" connecting the small gauges with the cabletree of your car. The switch you needed will give the signal for temp and preassure the the gauges.

I can give you the connection of the pins that are the same between Euro and US focus.

PIN 1 to- Instrument cluster connector 852 PIN 1(connectorcolour grey, top of the cluster, wirecolour red)This connector you will find only on the SVT instrument cluster.

PIN 2 not used

PIN 3 to ICE warning sensor

PIN 4 to Fuse 61 GN/YE

PIN 5 to Oil preassure/temp sensor BK/OG

PIN 6 to Data link connector PIN 2 GY/RD

PIN 7 to Data link connector PIN 10 BU/RD

PIN 8 to Fuse 36 OG/YE

Pin 9 to Instrument cluster, see PIN 1 (ONLY SVT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER)

PIN 10 not used

PIN 11 to ICE warning sensor BN/YE

PIN 12 to cruise control module PIN 1

PIN 13 is different to the EUro model.

PIN 14 to Fuse 41

PIN 15 to light switch (different to the US model)

PIN 16 Ground.

You see that the most of the cables are the same, but some have  a different connection. I think your dealer could help you with informations about the other cables.

As Dan and I have gone through a lot of electronic issues doing modifications with our cars - I'd be careful on information re: wiring between not only different country models, but even year models.

200-2001 had different wiring scematics than 2002 - 2002 had different wiring than 2003 etc. and so on.

Dan and I have a Ford Factory Manual Electronics book used by the dealers/shops etc. for the 2002 model.

I've compared the Euro diagram from a 1998-2004 Focus and a 2000 US model. The informations are correct for a 2000 Model.

This is where we here with the models 2002 and above may run into problems.

The wiring is very different - for example...my Euro tails did not wire the same as pitchblack's did.  Chris, wasn't yours a 2000?

The wiring for the most functions are the same as Instrument cluster, lights, airbag system  and switches but specific things have gonna change like door locks, engine modules etc.

Yep Chris's was a 2001...

Adn for example the Flasher switch in the 2000-2001 has like 12 wires going into the back of it and the 2002 has 6 wires

Wolli, thanks for the info.  I really appreciate you posting that info, I would have spent a while trying to dig it up.

I guess all one can do is dig in and give it a try.  I have the bezel, I just need to get those mini gauges and start there.  Hopefully I can dig some up somewhere or on ebay.
