okay, so i picked up a new gauge for the focus and in the directions it recommended tapping into the gauge cluster lighting so the aftermarket gauge could be dimmed like the stock gauges. I disconnected the gauge cluster and tried to figure out which wire went where and after a while i gave up. I plugged the gauge cluster back in and tested it to make sure it still worked.......it didn't. My speedo, tach gas, and temp gauges don't work at all. Any ideas as to what might have happened? I didn't mess with the stock wiring at all. I gave up before digging in too far.

when you were testing the wires/guage to see what one you needed to tap into to did you test the stock guage pin connectors or the wire(car) end of the plug????
when I installed indaglows I tapped into the dash light wire behind the fuse panel. I found the wire and fuse for the instruments lights and tapped off the side of the wire after the fuse.
All the stock guages are electronic so hopefully you just popped a fuse for them. Check under the dash and in the engine compartment.
Double check the easy things. Make sur ethe plug is secure into the back of the stock cluster. Make sure no wires backed out of the stock cluster harness plug. Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and reconnecting. Also bring everything back to stock to rule out anything aftermarket. Unfortunatly if somthing dosen't work going back to stock is the normal diag procedure unless you havea good clue as to whats causing the problem.
as for a dimmer for the aftermarket guage try finding the dimmer wire for the radio and tapping off of that. Audiojunky would know batter about that but with the way the focus is wired I would go the radio route after the cluster route didn't work.
