GRRRR I want cable or broadband back! Will someone share their connection with me?

My only option is satellite internet, which is retarded... because it costs $675 for the equipment, plus it goes out in bad weather (which is when I'd most likely be using it).

DAMN YOU INTERNET PROVIDERS! GO TO HELL! GO TO HELL AND DIE!

I've got Direct TV, so I inquired about their high speed internet service. If I remember correctly, when all was said & done, it was around $800 installed, and that doesn't include the monthly charge. The wife & I had a good time laughing at that one.

Because our local phone co. has a virtual monopoly, the only other hi speed link available is from them. I have Hi speed at work, (where I am right now). I don't think it's all that. My unlimited dial-up 56K works very well for most things I use it for. For $9.00/mo...I'm keeping it.

There are literally hundreds of reports of trouble and complaints about it. I think it costs around $45/mo. My other choices are cable and satelite. With cable, you also have to have cable TV, which I don't want. I've had it before, and I like the satelite TV lots better.

We have "Accelerated" dialup. Still only getting 48k connection. Oh, wait, today it's 45656bps. Whoop-de-freakin-doo.

2 more years and we'll be moving to Louisville for the final 2 years of her degree. I guess I can suffer until then.

Poop on the floor. We have DirectTV too that was the $675 I was talkin about. I want Highspeed :(

I used to think that dial up was good, but now I have cable and it makes dial seem so slow.

Having consistant speed is ok, you just adjust to it. When you are travelling and one morning you are on a T1, that afternoon at a hotel in Boston with a dialup that is slower than a fax machine and that night on adsl in New York you feel like the wrong end of a Yo-Yo.
