OK, so here is how it goes
Aug '03 I started workin where i do now through a temp agency making just over jack sh*t for pay. The guy i started with made lots more than me but whatever, he knew more than i did, asked for more than i did, so i went with it.
Then in Oct '04 we were hired full time, same pay, for just a bit more over jack sh*t. We both explained our displeasure with the pay but were both assured that within a year we would be brought up to 'mid-point' which was something decent where i could afford to pay for things other than just rent and perhaps a little something for me every 4th month.
Well, 6 months in we were brough up to half way to mid point and told that by 1 year would be up to that pay. Alright, i can wait another 6 months.
So, Oct. came and went with no review, no raise. OK, bosses kid was sick, we will let it slide
Then came today, boss came into town (he works out of Ohio) and were are gonna have our reviews... KICK ASS.. time for a raise and decent pay, can afford to do more than just get by and start that 401K stuff. We are both excited.
HOWEVER... shit has hit the fan. Review come and gone. No more money. Have restructured shit, we are apparently fine, within industry standard. Yeah, ok, you based it on cost of livin in OHIO.. we live in NEW ENGLAND, its 3x as expensive to live here than there. You can get a starter home for $50K there, here you are luck to get a shit hole trailer for $200K.
I am not please... NO, NO I am not.
Best part is, the plans for the next year... TWICE THE WORK AS THIS YEAR. Yeah, im not gonna be doin that thank you
Jokes on them though... I have an interview tomorrow at a much better place, would make $4 more an hour and have better benifits and more room to grow. and if i go, they will be FOOKED.
Everyone pray that i get the new job.
Hell, if they didnt talk out thier ass to me... maybe i would be willing to stay.. but now... HELL NO!!

This seems to be a national, if not world-wide trend. No raises...lucky if your pay & benes aren't cut...increased responsibility & workload. IMO, it's typical to find 10 people doing the work of 17-20.
Hope you get the new job. Break a leg out there.

Dan went through his review 5/04, was told his mgr. would put in for his raise...well - June, July, August goes by, NOTHING...September...hmmm still nothing. I put a bug in Dan's ear to call his boss's boss to find out what the hell is going on. No raises. Flat out. No one gets even a cost of living increase (considering how much driving Dan does to Boston nearly each week, you'd think they would consider the costs of fuel have gone up and are effecting everything!) but nope.
Now me - I work for below Jack Sh*t and have done so since 2/04. I do the work of 2 people and have been commended on many occasions, but still...nothing. I like the atmosphere here, the job is VERY stressfull, but I knew what I was in for.
I'm on the hunt for something else myself. I can't live on this anymore.

we have already been told that we are not getting a bonus this year. (even though our facility raked in 1.8 billion in sales this year, a new record) and the raises will be as lame this year as they were last year. (or worse) so my health care premium and deductable are going up so that any raise I get wont even break me even. On top of that, I lost my 9% shift differential 2 years ago and I am still not even caught up to that. so as of now, I am making less than I did 2 years ago with no hope of digging out. I cant wait for toyota to finish its plant so I can jump ship on this place.
And as 4 Agencies, I use 2 work at one, let me tell u we screwed people royally! (can't spell) That is why I walked out on them when they needed me the most. A$$holes, they don't care 4 anyone, just the $$$$$$$$$$$.
This is where I must throw in: I'm happy to be a Teamster!!!
I bitch and moan about my job, but it's more because it gets the boss pissed at me. Him I don't like, the job I do like. The money I make is good (can always be better), the people I deal with a great 99% of the time, and the boss makes the job impossible to get done.
