Cell number STILL not switch over from Virgin/Sprint to Nextel. Asshole mutherfuckers. 5 days? Huss shit. The first time they "worked on it for a week". Told em to fuckin cancel the switch. Calmed down, called up and redid it, thinking all these fucking little dickriders would get their shit straight at the same time. Nope. Been 5 days, still FUCK FUCK FUCKIN' AROOOOOOOOUND. Just a wild ass guess, but I'd say that you are mildly ticked off.
At least Nextel has good coverage.

It's a matter of degree. Is there a single soul on this planet who is happy with the service of any cellular provider? They all suck, it's just a matter of how badly. De-regulation at it's finest:X

Actually, I'm pretty happy with mine. 'Course, that's because I almost never use it.:D My wife & I both have phones. They are kept in the car & used for emergencies only. We have a pre-paid plan, (yes, I know it's expensive per minute), and We pay no service fee as long as we make 1 call per month on each phone. I actually have no idea what my cell phone # is. I'd have to go look at a bill. $25-30.00 per year provides more minutes than I actually use.

Why don't I use it more. Couple of reasons. Read Jonny's post above for one. The other one is, I DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME WHEN I'M NOT HOME:cool:! I value my privacy.

Sorry to hear you are haviong problems ther Mr. Bolt.

I had Nextel for about 3 years, before a dropped them. I got my new service from T-Mobile. When i received my phine, i called up T-Mobile customer service, told them i wanted to port my Nextel number, they told OK. 3 hours later, it was working.

You should remind Sprint they have to legally allow you to port your number.

And good luck with Nextel. I had crappy service with mine.

I've got Verizon, which isn't too bad in my opinion I have some occasional suck spots in coverage but it's better than the other options up here. Nextel is up here and my little bro thought it would be cool to have a nextel phone, then he realized it had about ...no reception as soon as he left the portland/south portland area.

Well, as far as I can tell, this whole thing with my number is a total fucking mess. Nextel says they sent the request to have it ported over, then they told me it was a problem with Virgin Mobile/Sprint and that they had to wait to "clear out the info" and then resend the info back to Sprint. Call Sprint, they say "we are waiting for Nextel to re-submit the info". What the fuck. Back and forth, back and forth. I literally feel like choking somebody. So I call back Nextel, after being told by FOUR people I would be called back, and they tell me my account has been given to the "higher-ups", and there is nothing they can do about it. I'm actually getting ready to call them back and raise some more hell. I'm gonna keep calling back, because they never return phone calls. It should take 24 hours MAXIMUM to get this done. This has been going on for several weeks now.

I moved over to Nextel because I have a small business, plus the 2-way will help me a great deal. Most of my friends have Nextel. Plus they just built a new cell tower down the road, so my neighborhood and surrounding area will FINALLY have nice Nextel coverage.

Verizon would be my 2nd choice if I werent going to with Nextel. While on vacation in Bowdoinham, ME this July, my sis-in-law was talking on her phone out in the middle of nowhere on the Cathance River, she has Verizon. My phone, which used the SPrint PCS network, just said searching for service all day and ran the battery down. Suck. Verizon has really surprised me with their coverage.

yup there aren't many good service carriers in maine. Verizon I think has close to the best I've seen around here. My girlfriend had AT&T at one point and it was beyond awful, as I mentioned the little bro has nextel and he's wishing he could get out of that. My mom tried US Cellular for about 4 days before going back to Verizon, and the only person I know with cingular, which is now part of AT&T or vice versa was my uncle and I never talked to him about it none.

Dan & I have Nextel and I love my phone and service coverage isn't bad at all.  I keep my ME phone number so all from there can call me toll free and I don't have to pay for long distance here in NH (dialing from a 207 to a 603 area code everyday).
Unlimited 2-way national direct connect.

I need a new phone because I beat down everything I own (save for my car).

As for coverage in Maine - Verizon has it, hands down.  My father is considering the switch from AT&T (sucks for coverage in Maine) and one of my brother's & his wife have Nextel as well.  It's just very convenient.

As for carrying a cell phone.  I don't have a land line.  This is my everything phone.  It has my schedule in it and lets me know when I have appointments. I don't typically answer my phone while driving & I put it on silent when at work and at a restaurant etc.

I'm sorry you're having such an issue Jonny.  I'm surprised this has taken so long to be honest.

WTF, I coulda sworn I posted in here last night. I must be on dope lol.

Crap I forgot to put a warning on this thread. Boy I was some pissed. I was really to the point where I just wanted to walk into Nextel, and do this myself, because obviously they are having a problem getting it done. Either that, or I wanted to put my hands around someones throat and fuckin choke em for a little while.

Maybe it'll be working today. I can only get voicemail, and even then the friggin' thing will let me know when I get new voice mail whenever it feels like it. This phone used to light up and beep when I got voicemail, not anymore. Somewhere along the way I guess it grew its own brain and it does things whenever it wants. I'm better off just calling my phone from a friggin land line every hour to see if there are any new voice mails. Ridiculous.

We'll see if my number is ported over by 6pm this evening. Doubt it.

It's hard to return calls when I dont get messages/voice mail until 6, 12, 18, sometimes 24 hours later. I have even lost business/service calls because of this. I hope problem is remedied soon, because my blood is really boiling.

UPDATE:

STILL not done yet. According to Nextel, my account had been "escalated" to "Tier 2" support status. Then on the 22nd, it was "escalated" yet again to "Teir 3" level support. Totally awesome service. I was told last Saturday it would done Friday or Sat.. I was told Sat. it would be done yesterday, and I was told yesterday it should be done today or tomorrow. YEAH RIGHT! :fu:fu:fu

why dont you just open a new account, instead of trying to port over your number, if having Nextel is that important to your business?

I know changing anything that has your number on is a hassle, but doent this porting deal seem like more of a hassle?

That razr phone might "look cool", but chances are the phones that arent as "cool" probably have better reception. The i530 Motorola phone with Nextel is one of their 2 best phones for signal quality. The workhorse phones always outperform the ones with all toys and trinkets.

I have a temporary nextel number now, and I am forwarding calls from my regular to that until this porting thing is through. It would be even more of a hassle to have 2500 brochures and 2000 business cards reprinted with another number. I really dont want to do that lol

The free incoming plan I got really kicks buttock.
