well, wasn't that just nice of the asshole! walked into work friday to have my boss tell me that it's my last day till construction starts in the spring again. 5 friggin years and never had this happen there. now they get a burr p their ass.
great friggin xmas gift shit for brains!
and the dumb asses think i'll wait till spring, don't damn think so!bust my ass going out of town alot to do project observation for a crap wage and having to fix their fuckups cause they wait till the last damn minute to get plans done.
then the ass had the nerve to get pissed at me because he wanted me to go with him to a project out of town friday at 4 in the afternoon also.
oh well, already set it in my mind i'm done there and need to move on to better things.
sorry all, just needed to do that and vent a little. feel a little better now.
I'd personally check around for seasonal help wanted. Sometimes with this time of year you can find some places that will pay top dollar for people and loads of OT to go with it.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I guess I better leave my insecure young pup of a principal alone ( he's 36 ) or I'll end up unemployed.
He's in so deep over his head (maybe he'll blow and solve my problem). I honestly try to keep him informed of things that could potentially blow up in his face (busted students in girls bathroom doing the nasty) one of my students told me about it so I reported it. I have a year on my contract so unless they find me guilty of moral turpitude, I'm good. All in all being a teacher can really suck at times!

I feel your pain bro. I started teaching when the earth was still cooling, and I've worked for maybe a dozen principals. The one I have now is by far the worst. His ideas are good, he's very well organized, and he knows what he's doing. Educationally, he's very good.
The problem is he's an insufferable prick. He laughs at the union contract, never, ever gives any positive reinforcement...not even, "Nice job." He calls meetings after school an average of 3 days/week. He emphasizes that you don't have to attend, but if you don't, you'll be on his shit list forever. He's also a task master. I have 6 completely different preps/day, plus a 40 min. study hall duty. He expects me to run the recycling program, in which my students separate bottles & cans, and collect all recyclable waste paper in the school in my spare time. When I gently complained about this, he told me I have a bad attitude. If you screw up in any way, there are NO warnings. He puts a write-up in your personell file.
Great guy! @#$#$^%$#@

In all honesty, I don't know why anyone wants to be a teacher anymore. The pay isn't that great, kids are getting worse, you're overworked.
I never EVER want a job I have to take home with me. I leave my job when and where I leave it. No wonder I failed a few classes in H.S... I am a firm believer in NO HOMEWORK.
If a student's parents won't allow him/her to do homework, would it be excused? Like if the parent's "religion" said it was bad?

I like that idea...I hate it when my son (14 yrs. old) comes home with Math homework that I can't do...I like the no homework or "religion" excuse...I may try it...I don't know what they do all day in school other then homeroom, gym, lunch, recess and afterschool sports...that leaves about 2 hours for actual classes if that...

now that reminds me of here for some reason...
just had a kid get caught skipping classes a third time, so they expelled him. ummm, ok now. so he's skipping classes he obviously doesn't want to be in. so they expell him so he doesn't have to go to them?
someone definitely needs to pull their head outta their a$$ and get a breath of fresh air and rethink the scenario on that one...
Like I tell my new collegues, don't bring logic into the equation, in reference to our school district policies and how our new principal is implementing his policies and new programs or you'll go crazy. Too many egos that are at best insecure in their own reality. Don't complain, keep a low profile, and when the shit hits the fan, it will generally blow right over the top of you and you still have a job. That is if you can handle the job itself, which ain't no picnic!! Easier said than done. If you can live with yourself and do a little of this it doesn't hurt. I'd rather try to stay invisible. In a large H.S. of 2,000 students it's not that hard. Just try to grind it out until you can retire with pension, if your lucky enough to live that long. Wanna be a teacher. Tell them Mr. V!!
