My daughter and the dogs and I were on a walk and I just happened to hear a dog whining. I looked around (I'm always in guard anyways with Brutus being DA) and couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
So I looked up.
OMFG There was a dog on the ROOF of a house! I was SO incredibly mad. That poor baby looked so scared and looked like it was trying to get down. No one answered the door at the house and one of the neighbors said it is there all of the time.
WTF you don't leave your dogs on a roof of a 2 story house! How incredibly sad and dangerous!
So I came home and called the police. I didn't know who else to call, we don't have an AC around here. I don't know what I can do now about it, but obviously something has to be done.
That poor dog! It was a younger looking yellow lab. I just wanted to take it home with me!
ARGH!
Sorry, just needed to vent and need some suggestions on what to do now to make sure this pup gets the help it needs?
Plus I'm upset about those two little girls killed by the one girl's father- that was about 3 hours from us and I know someone who lives in that town and daughter goes to the same school!!
wow.

Other than calling the PD you can call your local ASPCA - they have the same powers as police to arrest on sight if they feel an animal is being abused, neglected or is in any danger.
That is just unacceptable!

I drove past the house about 15 minutes after I got home and made the call to the PD. The dog wasn't on the roof anymore (thank God!)

Sad thing is, I have a friend who works for the 911 dispatch so she was able to pull the records from the call (no I didn't call 911- just the normal police) and this is what she said.
"Denelle,
You called the right people. In our county unless you live in one of the townships, the police department handles the animal calls. I looked up the call. The dog did have access to the house so it was on the roof by it's own choice. And it was a flat rooftop. Still not a choice I would make with my dog. If it tried too hard to get off it would definitely be injured.
Sherry"
Ugh. even our police are morons.
I mean of course they're not morons and I am thankful to have them to protect us, but come on.
This poor dog. Yes it was a flattop roof but there was no railing. And that dog did NOT look happy to be up there and looked like it would try to jump.
ARGH!

sighs.
well that block will no longer be on our walking route- there's no way I could walk past that dog again without kidnapping it.
