The focus is made to self destruct, Im convinced. Went to change the oil and found out that a bolt that holds the fender on broke in half and my passenger side fender was flapping in the breeze. Piece of monkey shit. so far Ive had three non load bearing parts break jusnt because they could. Fortunately a product called magnum steel fixed them all. Mix the putty, clamp the part, wait for the steel to cure. good product! Anyways, after replacing the splash guard clips with HONDA clips Im tired of fixing crappy Ford parts that break for no reason. Fuck Ford and Fuck their cheap parts. Everyday I find something new thats broken. My 87 Nissan truck went 250K miles till the tranny blew because Gene Brown transmissions sucks balls. My Fcus has gone 104K and its already falling apart at the seams. I hope I can make this beast stay together for another year. A new powertrain means nothing if the chasis colapses.

When ever I work on my focus I'm always extra carful because a wrong move with a wrench could break any number of parts under the car.

I kind of find this comment amusing considering it went for a quarter of a million miles before crapping out.  I think that's pretty good considering.

thats what Im saying. the truck was kickass and never let me down. but the tranny broke after so long and then I had it rebuilt by Gene Brown transmissions. After another 8 months. the tranny blew up because GBT sucks balls. And then I had enough of the trucka nd just bought the foci. Sometimes I wonder if it would have been better to buy another tranny and keep the truck. Prally would have gone another 100K with some new injectors.

I feel your pain. I broke almost everyone of those original clips when I did my pully. :X

try getting the clips that hold the trunk lining in from a 2000 Honda civic. They have a little push button in the center that releases the clip. I saw them in my dads car and ran down to the Honda dealer to get me some.:D

Lucky you! The way my car is coming apart, I'm mad I ever started modding it. more problems. OK, Im still glad I modded it. MAXX, clips are like 1 buck a piece from the dealer.

NEW UPDATE: my rear bearings are trash! HOORAY! Fucking Ford. Had the bearings replaced under recall at 35K and now 70K later they are junk. Fantastic. Off to parts.com to price some new bearings. :X

Please let me know what the bearing ID on the new and old ones are. I'm on my third set of rear bearings. The new ones are from FAG and are different from the second set that went in. I know Ford made a change when the issue came up initially but my second set may have been old parts inventory.

wow - I"m really curious about this bearing thing?  What types of situations, sensations, symptoms do you fellas get with the bad bearings?

the bearings I bought in the kit and the ones already in there were the FAG bearings. My originals were replaced under recall at 30K miles.

Chelly, I assume my bearings went south because I went too long with bad toe and camber.

oh yeah, read the question again. The symptoms I had with my bearings were at about 50mph and up the back tires started howling like truck tires. But it did that on all types of pavement and the pitch increased with the speed. Also, if you spin the wheel freely it makes a little click noise on each revolution.

see my thread in "hooking it up" for my bearings install ordeal.
