From my last installment of "Housing Dilemma" comes a new tale, a new adventure... lots of fuckups, and thanks to that, I will be roaming the streets for a couple weeks

... But seriously, the good news is, my buddy got the house he was going for, and we are most definite moving in. Bad news? The move-in date changed from the 1st of August until the 31st of August. Thanks to that, I talked to my roommate tonight, and he told his new roommate after I move in that he will be able to move in the first week. I might be able to get a couple extra weeks out of the deal, but I doubt it. My roommate is adamant on getting me the fuck outta here within the first week, maybe an extra week on top of that. This, is getting me steamed a bit

The good thing is, though, I have 5 different options of temporary living quarters that I can take up for those few weeks. Problem of this good thing? Now I gotta find a place to temporarily store my shit until the official move-in date

My buddy is talking with the guy now, to see if he can get that moved up. Problem with that is? I can't just drop into both my jobs and say "hey, move in today, I can't work for a week, bye!!". Then, I would be looking for new jobs right off the bat

Ugh, I just felt like ranting. All was fine until all this shit crumbled down on me. So lets see what happens next, my buddy decides to let his girlfriend move in and I get the shaft??? Will I just say fuck it and move to a different state?? Will I become a bum working the streets of Boston for change to get alcohol fixes and crashing at random T stops?? Find out on the next installment of "Housing Dilemma"

This episode brought to you by the makers of Molson Ice.... For those times you just want to snap-kick someone in the chest. __________________

I say you find a storage unit and put all your stuff in it untill you actaually find a place. I know its a pain, but kinda live out of your car for a while. I did it twice for 3 monthes each time between appartments a few years back. Stored all my stuff and just kept my clothes with me and a few other little things. I was lucky enough to have a small room or area where I did not have to leave my clothes and stuff in my car all the time.

Hey man, check to see if there is a Storage USA near you.  Excellent rates and secure.

Sorry about this whole thing.  I know a girl that works with me in similar situations.

Yeah, I'm scheming stuff as we speak.  I might be able to just hold my stuff in the garage of my current place until I officially move into my new place.  My mail is already taken care of, my roommate will keep that for me.  My buddy who I'm moving in with, I might be able to find a piece of rug to sleep on for a couple weeks, or I'll just play the upper-class homeless guy and haul my mattress with me.

The one good thing I am praying on right now is if my buddy can get the move-in date moved up from the 31st.  That would make things a HELLA lot easier on my end. As it is, I have to move my vacations from both my jobs up, and can't sit here and bounce it all over the place, so I'm just gonna take it at the end of the month, and get things set up then.

If this goes any more awry than it has now, I might just say screw it and find a place of my own.  So far, this is strike one....

Im sorry that its all gone to crap Jay. Im sure that you will get it all figured out. Brian is a good kid... Im sure that he will be able to help you out as much as he can till its all figured out. He might have other ideas too since he is the cop and all.... im sure he knows a bunch of stuff ;)

It will all be good though... dont you worry. Once you are in the town house and all of this is behind you, you will be on the top of the world :) It will be MUCh better than your current situation!! Hell.... maybe you will even have a bed at the new place!!

Either way, I gots a bed... even if its the back of the Focus :D

Brian said he would hook me up with his place as long as I needed to before the move, but its more of a concern with all my stuff.  Its pretty much going to be in a very unsecured area (garage or basement) of the house I'm at now for the few weeks I won't be living there.  That is, if "the queen" approves of what I need to do. I'm sure she'll just raise the roof and tell all parties involved that I'm illegally staying there or something, after all, its "her house" even though her flipping name doesn't appear on the title :chair

Oh well, I'll be sure to keep updates going as to what happens.

dude... storage unit... they arent that expensive and its secure. Plus, even if it is a bit pricey, its only a month. Might be worth it for the piece of mind knowing that your stuff is safe with all the other crap that you are going to have to deal with.

I might get hooked up with a storage unit out in Ayer, so we'll see.  I'm not all that crazy about moving all my junk from one place to another to another, I would rather ease the transition as much as possible.

I could also take some preventitive measures in securing my stuff at home, like using an actual padlock on the outside basement entry instead of the ghetto-fabulous "lock" that is on there just to keep the doors from flapping open in the wind (its old and busted, doesn't lock).  Or just put my stuff in the garage, cover the windows up so noone sees inside, and check on my stuff on a daily basis.  The area I live in isn't a bad neighborhood, but at the same time, considering my clothes got stolen about 2 blocks away from the house at the laundromat, I do have some concern.

The more important items I have at the moment are my computer, video games, TV, DVD player, and surround sound receiver and speakers.  Those I can probably stow at Brian's, or maybe my parents house until I move.

Plus this gives me a chance to rifle through all my stuff and get rid of what I don't need (old computer / maxima parts, old clothes, other random crap).

Your situation is pretty fucked. Crash on a couch somewhere for a couple weeks. Get a storage unit if you have to. Get rid of all your junk. Sell your body for food if you must.

You can always find somewhere to stay. As long as you have friends or parents who have any concern for you whatsoever, you always have a couch to crash on.

**UPDATE**

Official move-in date of new house: Aug. 31st (confirmed)

Official move-out date of current house: Aug. 8th (confirmed)

.... uhh, yeah, 23 days of homelessness, this is going to be fun!  :fu

I'm still waiting on word for storage.  So far, its looking like I'll be hitting up a combo of the basement and garage, and take my chances there, as I don't have enough money to secure a storage place.  I still have to talk to my parents, I might just see if I can crash there for now.  Hell, I'm sure my parents can put up with it for 23 days, its not like I'm moving back in until further notice!!!!

Eh, I'll call my mother tonight.

You havent talked to your parents yet?? Im sure that they will let thier baby crash at thier house for a bit. like you said, its not like you are moving back in or asking for something. Plans fell through and you just need a place to lay your head until you get things all together. thats not too bad. they should love you :)

Thats pretty much the thing I'm banking on right now.  IMO, me staying at the 'rents as opposed to Brian's current apartment will keep us from ripping each other's heads off before even moving into our place.

I'm thinking about the parents house now, and let me tell you, its either going to be their completely torn up bedroom (they currently have my old bedroom as theirs), or the very cluttered TV/Computer/bird room (my mother has the most annoying parakeets known to man).  Basically, anywhere I can pull out the cot and crash would be nice enough right about now.  Well, that, and a place to store my clothes
