Well, I know that this is an ongoing problem that those of us who own any Pitt Bull breed has to deal with, but Denver has managed to really step up the pace and has put to death over 150 dogs since Mid May and it's still happening!
This cannot keep happening. Anyone who loves dogs or has a passion for those who we call our loving companions, we need your voice!

When you read Denver's actual law - it states they can confiscate ANY Pitt Bull mix/breed and euthenize them immediately without the opportunity to fight in court to save a loved one. They say you're offered a chance to re-locate, but as I said, read the legislation and it gives the right to the animal control officers to confiscate on the spot and send to euthenize without any prior offenses by the dog or owner. What is this world coming to?
I will officially announce my boycott on all towns/cities, including Denver that have BSL on the books. I will not buy goods, visit and in any other way contribute money to them unless it is to fight this type of biggotry!

Dogs are FAMILY!!! Why dont people understand that. Just bc its a breed that people THINK is overly aggressive and dangerous does not mean that its true.
I have YET to meet an aggressive dog that is on the list. Took care of a Rotti when i was a pet sitter... was the best dog EVER... she was so loving. it was the goldens that you had to watch out for!! and i have absolutly NEVER met a mean pit. Mack (Chelly's Dog) is the kindest, sweetest dog every. he gets along with EVERYONE... including Franklin... my annoying little min pin who hangs on her years for hours at a time when the play. mack could eat him in a SECOND but he doesnt... why... becasue he is a GREAT DOG!!!!

You know, Mack is the first Pitt I have ever come across, and let me tell you, that dog is hella friendly, and plays with everyone. Its when you have a neglected or trained to fight pitt that you have to watch out for, and there are stupid people out there that will train a dog to do that.
But I'm with Carmen, I say we just ban everything else then. Pokes, better watch out for Franklin,who knows, he might kill Bill in his sleep or something
Chely, Denver's BSL was reinstated in early May. It had been 11 or so years in the court systems. They are literaly going door to door (starting with the "less fortunate" ie poor) with search warrants confiscating pitbulls (they are going off of registration). The owners face a 1000 fine and a jail sentence if they refuse to surrender their dogs. I encourage EVERYONE to write to Denver's City Council. You can find their addresses here http://www.denvergov.org/council_contact_list.asp I have personaly written them all (many times) and also mentioned that even though I was flying through their city, they would not get a penny of my money during my layover. I would never vacation in Denver because of the way they are treating their people (who own pitbulls)

Maybe we should start bringing back race specific laws too. Maybe Denver should ban all French people. Have them euthenized immediately. If you get caught with a French person in your house you get jail time and a $1000 fine. This doesn't sound too different to me...
I've never owned a dog of an "agressive" breed, but my little Westie I had sure would tear someone apart! Maybe they should ban Westies too. And Chihuahuas. They can be mean dogs.
It's BS to have breed specific laws. I can understand a law that says that "if an animal attacks someone, unprovoked, it must be euthenised". I could be cool with that. But saying all Pits are agressive is the same as saying all mid-easterners are terrorists. It's just not fucking true.

Animal advocates fear hundreds of adult and puppy pit bulls may be euthanized after Ontario's ban on the controversial breed takes effect on Monday.
The ban will make it illegal to breed pit bulls in Ontario or bring the dogs into the province. Dogs already in Ontario will be allowed to stay as long as they are sterilized, leashed and muzzled in public.
The legislation requires those who already own the dogs to neuter and muzzle their animals. (CP Photo)
Registered purebreds will be exempt from sterilization as long as they continue to participate in authorized dog shows.
But puppies born after Nov. 27 must be shipped out of the province, given to a research facility or destroyed.
More pit bulls will be euthanized by animal agencies in the coming months "because you've still got the jerks out there that are breeding these pit bulls," said John Roushorne, general manager of the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society. "So it's basically going to be a slaughter."

Advocates for the Underdog, a pit bull rescue agency, says at least 350 pit bull or pit bull mixes have been euthanized in Windsor, Ont., since the dogs were banned there in October. They warn that's now the fate for many dogs across Ontario.
Meanwhile, Ontario breeders are fighting back. They will launch a legal challenge Monday which claims the ban violates breeders' constitutional rights.
Supporters, including the American Staffordshire Club of Canada, say that Ontario's law is so vague and unscientific that it will affect many animals that shouldn't be banned.
The law forbids Staffordshire bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, American pit bull terriers and any other dog with "an appearance and physical characteristics substantially similar to any of those dogs."
Last year, Ontario's attorney general Michael Bryant introduced the ban after a spate of vicious attacks on children, adults and pets by pit bulls.
In a widely-reported case, Toronto police fired more than a dozen bullets into two pit bulls that had turned on the man who was walking them as a favour for a friend. In another in London, Ont., a woman and her seven-year-old son watched in horror as a pit bull latched onto her husband's arm as he tried to keep the family puppy out of the dog's reach.
