OK, So i have had quite an exciting morning already.... just after 8am and im ready to go home and go to bed.

SO... since the cold is coming i decide that I want to take the bike to work. never done it before but i  have been out and about over the last few weeks so.... im ready. PLUS... will save LOTS on gas (50mi/gal... that makes me happy)

I leave the house, its a little nippy but alright. Get about 2 blocks from home and stop at the sign like a good doobie should. Sit there waiting to for my turn to pull out. This is a side street onto a mail road kinda thing.... eventhough the side street is used pretty good. Only problem with it is there is a pretty good corner in the main street right before the turn so some people tend to come up to it a little on the fast side.

OK, car is turning down the street in on so i take it as my chance to go. I start to pull out and realize that the car turning is going too fast to make the turn, and Im in his path  This does NOT make me happy. So, i try to get out of the way BUT since i have not been riding for a long time (had the licences 2 years but this is the 1st time really out alone one it) I end up dumping the bike in my quest to NOT get taken out by the car.

Now, that sucked. Im on the ground, bike on me, just short of being in the intersection. There is a car behind me and a bunch of kids across the street waiting for the bus. So, what do you think people do?

1. The guy that almost hit me..... kept going... didnt even stop... just kept going.
2. Guy behind me... sits in his car. When i take too long getting the bike back up (mind you, it weighs quite a bit alone, plus it has a full tank of gas) he beeps at me to get out of the way.
3. The kids across the street.... point and laugh hysterically.

Yeah, so it was a good morning.

I hate people so much right now. I mean, hell, doesnt that guy know how to drive?? I mean, its not like i was even CLOSE to his lane.... he came completely into MY lane to almost take me out.... then just keeps going like nothing happened!! And the guy behind me. If you are in such a frigin hurry... get out and help me pick up the damn thing. It was pretty obvious that i was using all tht i had to get it off the ground. And the kids across the street.... they were like Freshman in HS... frigin HATE kids to this day and there was just more reason WHY!

But now Im at work. Unfortunately the adrenaline is wearing off so im really starting to hurt not. Im lucky that i wasnt going that fast or anything but still, hand is pretty messed up from landing on it, and you can see exactly what my pegs look like by the bruises in my legs. Ache from using all i  had to keep it up in the 1st place then getting it up..... and my stomach... jesus christ it is killing me. If I was going any faster I would probably go get myself checked out for that but yeah, Im sure ill be fine. Just a morning of humanity making me sick of how people could act towards others. Its frigin sad and disgusting!

Omgosh Pokes!!!!

I'm glad you're ok, but that was just totally uncalled for in so many ways!

#1, people don't give a rat's Ass about people on cycles of ANY kind, let alone a motorcyclist.

#2, You know me, I'd have gotten up, left my bike in the road and gone up to the asshole beeping at me and give him a piece of what for!  Oooh, that burns me when people don't at least make an effort to offer to help!

#3, HS kids...Oh, I'd have shot them an evil look to kill! Probably add a little curse their way too.

I"m sorry this happened hun!  that sucks and I know you'd been such a good doobie about your biking etc.  This just sucked you had to deal with such ignorance.  Especially when you consider we're coming up on the 4th anniversary of Sept. 11th.

Bunch of morons!

Wow

Just to think, I'm actually considering going for my Motorcycle license and getting a Suzuki Ninja 250cc crotch rocket by next summer, but if this is something I gotta deal with, forget that!

Sorry to hear about your endeavour this morning.  I hope your ride home is much better.

Sorry to haer this happened. I've been there, done that. Ridden mcycles for 35 years. You just can't ever underestimate the stupidity of a crowd. I'll bet if there were just the beeper & you present, he would've been more inclined to assist. At least, that's what I hope wpuld be true. The bigger the crowd, the crazier thay tend to behave.

I'm eventually going to get my mcycle lic too, but I know there are such idiots out there...

just burns me!  Common decency people.  Too many people are out for themselves and they don't care about other's anymore.

This is why I love my dog!

Werd up.  This is why I would rather be at home in front of my PC most of the time.  There is only so much public "exposure" that I can take.

what pisses me off the most about it was I got up early and was ALL excited to take the bike to work.... but NNNOOOOOOOO didnt happen! bastids

that and im still one hurtin SOB... i dont even want to THINK about the pain tomorrow will bring (always worse the day after).

Even with all that happened, im still going to ride again. Bill finally agrees with me that the bike is too big for me. I can reach the ground and everything but still, just too big. Need to go find something smaller to start with atleast, Ill move up over time but to start, i need something light so i dont dump it anymore... i hurts too much!

Jeez Pokes that sucks! Well if nothing else, at least you know it can't get a whole lot worse of a situation right? (I mean short of seriuosly injuring yourself in a car-bike accident, god forbid) Are you gonna try to take the bike in tomorrow morning too?

Kids in HS suck, pretty much 11-21 they suck as a whole, especially in groups when they're far enough awya to feel safe. usually younger and older than that they're OK. And there's always exceptions (I'm only 22!) but as a group you don't see that anyway.

As for the 2 other car drivers, they're just ignorant assclowns themselves. I'm sure the offending driver was "too busy" rushing off to wherever to bother to see if you were OK after he almost creamed you, and the nerve of another car BEEPING when you fell off your bike and were trying to get it up?! What a moron, dear god I woulda thrown a rock at him (well maybe not, but I sure would've Wanted to)!

It was friggin cold this morning too, I walked to school at 7:30 and it was only 50! Warmed up to 80 by the time I had to walk UP the hills back home though, of course!

Sorry for your bit of crappy luck, hopefully tomorrow and the days after will be better for you! And I hope those 2 cars don't pass that intersection again on your commute! Oh and try taking a couple Tylenol or Aleve before you go to bed, might stave off the aching tomorrow a bit?

Well, I was right, does hurt more the next day ;)
I got a cool bruise on my leg too.... you can see where my leg swelled up around my sock.... and where the sock was... NO BRUISE... just one above and below... i thought that was kinda cool :)

No bike today, too sore for that. Plus, Bill has forbidden me from even getting on that bike again. Apparently it was prefect for me until this, now its just too big and i need to get a 250 if anything. I think he is having flashbacks to his bike accident and now that I have been hurt (as minor as it is) he is freaked about it. We will see though, might keep the bike for him or just sell it and get some money for a new toy :)

Ice it. Don't put the ice on your bare skin. Personally, I like to use a bag of frozen peas, green beans, etc. Put a paper towel on your skin 1st, & the bag on top. Leave it on no longer than 15 min. Fifteen on, 30 off is a good routine.

Ah Ninja... check insurance on that beast, for a Long time they were the deadliest bike on the road. Probably thanks to ricer-bikers whipping the thing into conditions it/they couldn't handle and wrapping themselves around trees... but still, for quite a while insuring one of those was almost a factor prohibiting many from getting one.
