Strange thing about humans... Seems to be a reluctance to accept that some things have no immediately comprehensible reason for happening. There has to be a conspiracy or some other such explanation. Weekly World News and others can be amusing. GM and Exxon got together and conspired to drop the price of gasoline so that GM can sell off the rest of their Hummer inventory. Then they'll increase the prices again. LOL.

Cheap! Out here in Germany 1liter is 1,45 US$, one gal. is 3,7 liter, one gallon here in Germany is 5,365 US$. I don't know what you want! I'll hope you think about the recources of our planet, so gasoline must be expensive! Think about the environment and greenhouse effect! Katrina was only the beginning.

Hey Wolli - I agree with you - The cost of fuel needs to go up here in the US to get these gas guzzling motor hogs off the road.
Granted, those that have the money will continue to buy and spend and burn fuel like there is not tomorrow. I know I bitched about the cost of fuel going up, just like everyone else, but I'll tell you - If it came down to it I'd sell my Focus to get something that gives me better milage.
Having said that though - My 2.3 PZEV gives off less pollution than some of these hybrids. That is the truth. I'm willing to give up a bit of power to commute and help reduce emissions and pollution. Hell, I do the recycling at work. I'm the one who packs up the used office paper and I voluntarily bring box after box to the Manchester transfer station to recycle it. I can't stand to see all of that paper go into landfills. We use an enourmous amount of it for such a small company.
I do what I can, whenever I can.
One of the things that really gets me: You ever notice these dredlocked, pachouli wearing, tree huggers in their beat up old volvos and VW's with the 'Love your Mother' bumperstickers with a picture of the world on them? Did you ever notice that most of those cars are spewing oil in their exhaust???
Maintain your car and you'll also help the environment. Another point for Amsoil is their extended change intervals. Better for the environment because you're only disguarding about 6 quarts per year vs. the typical 30+/- quarts from your Focus when you use conventional 'Dino' oils. This holds true for any extended drain interval synthetics, but this is just another example of the steps that can be taken to help us deal with the changing transportation and environmental problems we're facing.
It's real and it's real scary!
