Ok.. its not big city.. but its city for NH. I live right downtown. And at the moment I think there is a skunk trying to kill me!! I think he might have sprayed the house.. its smells SO FRIGIN BAD!!!!! Holy crap! I breath through my mouth and i still smell the nasty. Why do they have to smell so damn bad! I dont think that any animal needs a defence to smell that bad. it can kill from 5000 yards.. what the hell!! I know I know... every animal has its thing for a reason.. but i must say.. the dry heavs are gettin old ... and i didnt even do anything to the poor bastard.. i dont even know where the little bugger came from. all that is around here are houses and water.. unless skunks became marine mammals i dont know what is going on... that would be HORRABLE.. i mean.. have you ever gotten a skunk sprayed dog wet.. smells TWICE as bad. Hell maybe that explains the unforgiving stink that i have been suffering through for the last 45 min!!

There was a dead one on the road going to work last night. It was HORRIBLE. My windows were closed, and i could smell it for a few miles down the road!!!
I dorve home, 10 hours later, STILL stinks, and the thing is gone! WTF MATE!?!?
The stink... it lingers. Woke up the am smelled it still.. not as bad but it rained last night so still there... then... i think the smell got cought in the bathroom.. holy POOP that it stinky in there this am (like skink that is... no jokes there about poop or smell please ) Oh me no likey!! It better be gone tonight though... people are comin up

They are everywhere in the cities because there is an easy and accessible food source (human's garbage cans). They aren't afraid of anything...well, I think that's because they're so dumb!
I had one spray near my house one time...years ago and I swear it had to have been right outside my window (day basement at the time) and I literally had to run upstairs and vomit. It made me throw up it was that strong. I couldn't believe it.
They love to spray when cats are around and of course, the old - road kill skunk loves to leave it's scent everywhere!

Ran over one some time back. Could smell it in the car even with the windows all down and keeping up a good clip. Nasty critters, those skunks. Luckily I was in a rental car.

My dog got sprayed right in my front yard a few years ago. I threw her in the shower immediately - scrubbed, rinsed, scrubbed, rinsed, etc. I finally got her so that we could stand to let her in the house, but it was still very bad. I didn't want to use tomato juice, since she's a white dog. Went to the vets the next am. He gave me some stuff, but said nothing would work 100% - not even tomato juice.
Just a suggestion - if this ever happens to you, make sure you wear rubber gloves when you wash the dog/kid/cat/whatever. I didn't and my hands smelled like skunk for weeks.
The smell eventually vanished completely from the dog in about 3-4 months.

Thats just plain gross, I am glad that I have not had to encounter that problem as of yet, but I still watch out, there are lots of pepe le pew's around where I live....
