Well, I think i might have just reached my final straw with the car. Just went to go out to get lunch and my key wont turn in the ignition... AGAIN!
2 years ago the ignition cylender callaopsed and i had to pay for it to be drilled out... and a new steering column since they cracked that in the process. Just called them back, explained that its not even 2 years old, there are muntipule TSBs out for it and they said.. oh... you have to pay for it. NICE. Its not like i dont know people who have gone to that same ford dealer and NOT paid to have THE SAME THING FIXED!!
So yeah, since there is no key turing at all we are talking $400... plus whatever the column would be. NOT happy!!
Now i ask myself... OK... is the $400 worth it if stuff keeps going wrong?? I just spend the whole summer dealing with the damn oil leak... now this!!
so... do i fix and keep it... or do i look for something else
(note: the hardest part.. the car is paid off... and i really dont want to do car payments again!!)

Fiscally.....repairing a car for upkeep is cheaper than a new vehicle. change in insurance and payments....5000 on a turn in at leat 8000 more to pay off plus interest.....fix it hun......400 now with a warranty on the ppart should be better than a new Loan.

Pokes have you seen the ignition cylinder how-to? I'm not sure if it's posted here, if not I can find it for you.
I'm not sure how mechanically-inclined you/Bill are, but it couldn't hurt to look it over and see if it appears feasible... way less than $400. I can understand how you must be frustrated in general with it, and the dealer not paying for yours but will for others truly sucks..
But I'm with AJ, not worth the whole loan/payment crap again. I don't think so, but obviously we're in different shoes here.
She's had the perverbial Focus problems that plague the first year. I mean just last year she lost the whole engine! Rod right through the block. I don't blame her.
Pokes, you know I will support you w/ whatever you choose - There is the financing to think about, but if you can pay it off soon w/ double payments etc. you'll do fine. I think what you're looking at is a hot choice. I won't blow the surprise for you.
