these are things that i have learned suck over the last few hours of my life so i thought i would share

1. Your engine and the oil should always get alone. When they dont it tends to be the oil that moves out. When it does this it does it quickly, however, engine is not happy with oils decision and makes many loud, unapproving noises.

2. Roadside assistance is very very messed up. You call in the morning when the car wont start because, well, its a 2000 Ford. You are in the comforts of your home with no place to be or go. 10 minutes later the tow truck shows up. HOWEVER, when you are on the side on I-95 at around 11pm alone the responce is not so swift. In this case it takes them roughly 2 hours to come save you. In the mean time you have cocky bastards doing fly-bys, fuckers in BMWs beeping and flipping you off, the occational good sameriten stopping to see if you are alright (this isnt bad, except for perhaps the few that dont want to help but rather get you into the back of thier car... but i dont go into detail), there are the people in the old ass cars that sound like hell but are still running better than yours because, well, they have oil in them, and oh yeah... its started to rain.

3. The tow guy finally shows, and he doesnt know what he is doing. Cant get the car on the flat bed. Doesnt know where to put the hooks, so you have to help him. Once he starts being lifted the bed is at too much of an angle so the front end scrapes (a sound that could run a close second to that lack of oil sound experenced 2 hours earlier) and then he cant drive stick..... which is what the tow truck is. Talk about a long drive from hampton to exeter... via Portsmouth ofcourse.

4. If your car explodes just past the new high fangled $2 toll not only is your car dead, but you just paid $2 for nothing. $2 might i add that could go for, i dont know, a new engine?

5. After 4 hours of hell you finally make it home and its trash day, so you have to put out all the trash, including the neighbors. Then you come in and just wanna go to sleep but you cant, because your baby is sitting at a crappy car dealership dead on his wheels and you dont know how you are gonna pay for it, so you post gay ass little rants about the experence.

Well, i think thats about the end of my rant there. Yeah, hasnt been a good evening for da pokes or da pokesmobile. but alas is the life of driving the lemon sented foci. Time to go check that extended warentee  (stand by for rants about that piece of poop too)

I still can't believe this hun!
Please call me if you need me and let me know what the place says about your car.

I'm going to cross my fingers on that warranty for you.  If it's a 3rd party, you'd better give them a call ASAP!  Pull out the plastic because if it is a 3rd party, you'll have to pay first, then they decide if they're going to reimburse you.

oh Esther, I'm so sorry.  I feel soo bad. :(

Let me know if you need anything...(I've got the info on the oil for you), but if you need anything else.

How did oil get out of the car?!

Im so sorry to hear about your car. I have had experiences waiting for ford roadside taking hours to get to you when your stranded on the highway. But people flipping you off? thats notcool!

As for the towtruck driver scraping your car going up the flatbed, call the tow company, and have them pay any damages!!

Good Luck!

Chris. I dont know know how the oil got out. There was a bang and then all the oil was draining out like the car had enjoyed way too much taco bell over the last few days or something. It wasnt happy..... it was loud and violent. Thats about all i know. Should hear from the dealer soon... see what they have to tell me.

Jonny.. thanks.. did get a little smile there. And done tease me with you car, you know i love that thing and cant afford it... i have to work on fixing the lemon now :( but if you want to give me the engine or something... that could help ;)

THE VERDICT IS IN:

why did all the oil drain out of the car?? Oh yes, that would be due to the 2 large holes in the side of the engine. Thats what the banging was... holes being produced in large pieces of metal.

SO... next week they have to take out the engine to see what caused the holes to come about. That will cost me $600. Then Ford sends a guy out to look at all my records and the engine to decide if they will cover it or not. If they will cover it under my extended they i only have to pay the $100 deductable. If they decide not to cover it (bc you know how Ford is and they can say that dont have to) then i have to pay the $600 it cost to get the engine out PLUS whatever else its gonna cost to get a new engine in there.

Looks like i have to go find records, call them tomororw and tell them what to do. Ealierst the engine will be out is Tuesday so it looks like its gonna be a while before i get my car back :(

anyone wanna donate money??

holes in the side of your engine? As in thrown rods through the block?  I can't see you having done anything wrong to that to cause such an act.  That's not a normal engine act.

It does sound like a rod went through the block. Ford probably already knows this. I hate Exeter Ford. I can probably get your motor pulled and new one in (laborwise) for less than Ford will charge. There book says it takes X amount of hours to pull motor. My cousin charges whatever it takes him. For example it takes 10 hours to pull a 2000 ford explorer tranny. I watched him pull it in about 1.5 hours.

I say get the records to ford before thay pull the motor. See if thay can tell you without pulling the motor if you need a new motor or not. You probably do need a new one because there are holes in the block(the main part of the motor). Explain to them that you do not have the 6 bills (even if you do have it) and you want them to check to see if they will cover the warranty before going any further. Be a bit of a bitch, not to bitchy cause than they will get pissed and tell you no go on the warranty, you know what I mean tho.

Keep us informed and remember you always have the TFNE Focus techs....:D. Mikey and I...:D:D and others possibly....

jeez?!!! holes in the block! wtf?!

I will tell you right now Pokes, if they try and blame this on your oil..tell them they can bite you right on the cheeks because you have a federal law protecting you.  They will have to prove exactly what has caused this.

in example, it could be an engineering flaw that finally just let loose...

here are some links to help you with the Magnuson-Moss Act - this is a Federal Act that helps consumers with warranty protection etc.

Business Person's Perspective http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/warranty.htm#Magnuson-Moss

helpful, layman's terms surrounding the act:
http://www.ravelco.net/magnusonmossact.htm
This link also offers the phone number to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) should you be having difficulty with your dealer and the repairs.

Also, don't forget, you are protected by the Attorney General here in NH! - Get a quote! Don't you dare let them start to do ANYTHING until you get an estimate of what this will cost you.  Get it in WRITING! If they come back to you after the work is done and that ends up costing you more than 10% over what they gave you as an estimate, you do not have to pay any amount over the extra 10%.  If they have a problem with that, you can go to the Attny General's website and file a written complaint.

I'm here for my TEAM!  If Any of you needs anything and I can help you, you guys just ask.  If I don't know the answer, I will damn well try my hardest to get it or point you in the right direction.

Thanks Dan!!  Yeah, I might be callin on some help when i really start dealing with Ford. I have a feeling they are gonna fight this to the end to not pay for getting it fixed. Only reason that im having them pull it is bc i know i have that warranty. If i didnt it wouldnt have gone there. I know that I have done nothing wrong, take care of that car better than some people do thier own children and there is no reason that they shouldnt honor the warranty. If it comes to the point that they wont, the car will be taken out of there fast for the change over.

I too hate Exeter Ford, its where i bought the car and have bad experences there. HOWEVER, I do get some respect from them now since i got them in trouble by writing to Ford directly to bitch them out, so now they do all that they can to make me happy. Granted... $600 doesnt make me happy... but im gambling here that in the end the whole thing will only cost me my deductable.

So... keep your minds open. I might be draggin some of the foci techs down there with me sometime to bitch these guys out ;)  Engine gets pulled on Tuesday, when i bring in my records, and Im gettin pics!! Ill be sure to share those with everyone too ;) Should be interesting

Sorry about your predicament. The noises coming from under the hood can scare the crap out of you the first time you go through this.
Good luck.

Thanks for that info Chelly!!! Yeah, you posted right when i did so i didnt see that till now. Ill have to print those up and keep them handy. I think i still have the recepit from when i bought the oil from you guys, give an approximate date of when i (or harry rather) did the oil change. However, if I dont is there a chance that you guys have record of me buying that? And if i need it could i get a copy of that? That would help me out lots and lots!!!!

and it looks like i have someone to go over with me on Tuesday when I go see the engine. He is PISSED about what is going on since he has been there throughout most of my problems with the damn car. Car guy too. And big. This should be fun :)

Other things to consider, if Ford says it's your oil that caused the problem then take up your grievance with Amsoil.

http://www.amsoil.com/warranty.htm

Chances are they are going to say it's mechanical faulted, and now you can have Amsoil and Ford argue about it, no matter who wins...you win :)

Pokes, make sure you get some oil from the car, I know alot of it probably isn't in it right now, but you'll need a sample to send to Amsoil in case you have to go that route.
