So, my virus update subscription expired, so I renewed & upgraded my McAfee. I downloaded the software, followed all instructions, rebooted, etc. I soon found out that I couldn't get on line at all, even to read my mail. I disabled the new McAfee features 1 by 1...still, no dice. By 2AM, after trying to fix the goddamn thing, I finally gave up & went to bed. This AM, I was hard at it again. McAfee had a good idea. Visit our web site for free 24/7 tech help. That's great, ONLY I CAN'T GET ON LINE YOU STUPID FUCKERS!!! Of course, I could call for tech help at $2.95 per minute. I finally ended up calling. Got some guy, who was not at all proficient in English. He had me do everything I had already done. He put me on hold for about a minute. Meantime, my phone, a portable, starts beeping, telling me the battery is going dead. It's the only phone, from which I can reach the computer. The phone went dead.

At $2.95/min., I'm not anxious to call back. The same damned thing happened when I used to use Norton. They were worse than McAfee. I finally gave up & did a system restore to a couple of days ago. Of course, now I have no protection. God damn sonovabitch!! I'll have to spend at least half my day contacting McAfee & fucking around trying to fix this shit, all the while, spending money like it was water.

This, my friends, was NOT the desired result.

Mr V, here are a few free programs you might try.

Courtesy of Dragon.

AVG Anti virus - heard real good things about it tho I haven't used it. Downloadable
AVG

TrendMicro- free online virus scanner
TrendMicro

BitDefender - free online virus scanner. Goes a bit deeper than trendmicro. I've used it and it works well.
BitDefender

This Mofo is still not fixed. I've been in contact with 5 different techs over the past 3 days, & nothing is close to being resolved. If it's not fixed tomorrow, I'm asking for a refund.
