Well I have been told that there is an article in Automotive News that talks about people leaving SVT, including the retirement of John Coletti, and it also mentions that there is thoughts of bringing back the SVT Focus even though they pulled it from the line.
Atleast there's some hope. Maybe they'll get it right....a turbo'd version.
From what I can gather, he's retiring cuz he's gittin' old. BUt I wouldnt doubt that part of his decision came when Ford started "retooling" SVT, and all the rumors started.
I think Ford may be reconsidering its decision to fully drop the SVTf because of the outpouring of support for the car. The emails, letters, phone calls, and petitions probably made an impact. I can remember posting a link to a petition on another Focus board that I wont name, and having some total moron post something like "I dont think the petition will work, and I wont put my name on it". Well fine idiotlips, dont take part.
But I can honestly say that the support shown has atleast made Ford reconsider.

I remember that petition. Even though I don't own an SVTF, I still signed that petition. Also cause I own a focus.
From what i read and what i was told at the dealership is this...
They are dropping the lightning completely to make more room for the new SVT Cobra...If they bring back the SVTF it's coming witht the 2.3L 6Cyl...no numbers or anything...that's just what i read...and i can't find the site that i read it on. but i think it is still coming back NA...who knows...ford seems to be like a bunch of little kids right now that don't know what they want to do..
announce by ford today in automotive news...svt has added staff, up to 200 now, increased budget and expects to do 5 new products, starting with next years 500 hp stang, and is looking at doing another focus svt
Hmmm, 2007 SVTf? Well my 02 will be paid for at the end of this year. I do need to replace the Bronco (for a tow & Winter vehicle), but maybe I'll be in the mood for another 'toy'.

that's great, another svt that is going to get beat by many imports and domestics a like? if ford wants to get out of the hole financialy, they need to bring something straight from the factory that can rip everybody's booty on the road. the mustang is not going to do it (sorry) you would have to upgrade it-lots. don't get me wrong, i love mustangs, i owned a 1967 coup, a 1967 fastback, a 1964 1/2 conv. and a 1985 gt conv. they were all modified too! i would like to see an svt focus zx3 w/turbo or supercharger all wheel drive putting down 500whp! w/drivetrain that can handle all that hp,the trq should match the hp in #'s. and handleing, none of that sae corected crap either.then maybe they can call it focus svt/kr for king of the road.people are going to buy what they like, weather is a mustang, focus or anyother type of car regardless if the focus is the fastest car in the market or the mustang whatever! so, dream on. meanwhile in the real world, i will keep my goal to built a 500 to 700 hp focus!
