This is gonna be hard to describe but I've noticed that if I begin slowing down for a stop light by applying pressure to the brake pedal and then let up to coast a bit further and then apply pressure again to come to a complete stop, the brake pedal seems to need to be pressed further.

Has anyone else noticed this on thier SVTF?

(brake fluid was replaced last month but the "sensation" was present before replacement)

Nope - Not yet. Seeing if anyone has noticed this anomaly with thier SVTF.

One other person has said he's noticed it as well.

Like I said - It's hard to explain. Absolutely no problems stopping but just feels like the pedal has to move further during the final slow-down to stop the car.

I think I have it figured out.  You know when you're coming up to a light and begin slowing down? The idle on the SVTF stays around 1K. The idle drops to about 750 when your almost at a complete stop. why this happens - I haven't a clue

There's a higher vacuum at higher RPMs so maybe the brake booster doesn't have as much vacuum when the idle drops the 250 RPMs to 750 and that difference causes the sensation.

Jonny - Squeaky brakes are good. Sort of an audible notification that they're working.

Also.
don't know if you know this but pumping the breaks disables the ABS for a short time(if you have it of course). This could be whats happening

Nope - Don't pump the brakes. Just steady increasing pressure to slow down. The let off to coast the short distance up to the stopping point then pressure again to come to complete stop. (it's the second pressure when I notice the necessity for further depression of the pedal). Not much, but definetly more travel of the pedal is required.

I'll have to pay attention to see if mine does that....I don't notice my rpms staying around 1K when I'm slowing down coming to a stop sign???  Is the clutch pedal pressed at this time?

The only time I notice my breaks don't have a stiff feel to them is after washing my car or on some cold mornings...

Re: Is the clutch pedal pressed at this time?

Clutch is pressed when RPMs fall down around 1200 RPM. (or shift into neutral about that time and use brakes to slow the rest of the way down).

Still not sure about the pedal thing. But I know when I had my Ranger, the brakes started to do the same thing, squeak. Took it in and they machined them for me and it went away.

I will try to remember to look out for that pedal feel prob. Got some early mornin drivin to do.
