Hey all SVT owners, particularly '03 models - not sure if this effects the '02 models, but I just brought mine in for a 15,000 mile service and AGAIN asked to have the SVT tech listen to the marbles in the clutch. They've finally replaced the throwout bearing and pressure plate...well, they're doing it as I type this, actually, should have it back by today. I'll let you know if my clutch flies apart on the highway home!

For real Johnny? I'm at almost 18,000 and this has been my only problem w/ it. It's a common one, so I don't think of it as being a huge deal. What else went wrong w/ your ride?

All it needs is a new car. LOL. Actually, a truck. It buzzes, rattles, hums, starts like shit, and I frequently get that feeling like somethings going to break if I'm too "rough" with it. Bad investment, biggest mistake I ever made in my life was trading my truck in. Yes, I'm still kickin my own ass over it.
Wow man. I'm sorry to hear about all of your troubles. My brakes squeal a bit too, but non-squealing brake pads are purely an American construct. This is because Americans think that squealing brakes don't 'sound nice', so Europe responded. As such, we get brake pads that aren't quite as brake dusty and don't squeal - the point in all of this? We have metallic brake pads, better performance. Or at least that's what I've convinced myself of.
On a lighter note, it's too bad that you're not happy w/ your car. Maybe you got a lemon? Mine's been rock solid, I thrash on it (mildly of course) on a daily basis, I freakin love the thing. Best car I've ever owned! Alas, to each their own.

I like the car for what it is and what it can do. I also like the car for all the new people it has allowed me to meet. But it just doesnt fit my lifestyle. If I cant get down a trail cuz of huge puddle, I get pissed.
Yeah, so, updates - I still don't have my car back yet. Apparently there was a problem with ordering my throwout bearing (read, their parts department *might* be incompetent). It's worked out for the best, though, because now I've got a bigger car to move with, TAURUS WAGON, baby!

I'm such a douche, I never filled this thread in on what eventually happened with my car. What the did was take the clutch / flywheel apart and replace the throwout bearing, a few other random things that could have been making noise. While they had it apart the service manager decided to service the clutch - apparently there was an update that was released for it that increased the strength of the clutch, apparently a fix for all the young morons out street racing their new SVT's and beating on the clutches (being young morons and all). So I got a new clutch out of the deal, it was a part for that fix that they were waiting on. It was unplanned, but welcomed, the tougher they make my car before the warranty is out the better I say!

I'll say you are lucky. I almost wish mine made some sort of noise or had a TSB out on it long ago. I will have to be investing in a new clutch and very soon. Mine has always been not so great and I didn't know that when I first had driven it off the lot.
I'd not driven many focuses in comparison before I picked mine up either...which was a bad thing on my part, but didn't know all of TNE then. So, needless to say, great work on getting that new clutch man. Thanks for keeping us posted and let us know how that new clutch holds out!

Good to hear they helped and did what they needed to. I am going to have to bring mine in for the same treatment soon. Kinda tired of listen to the clunking lol.
BTW, Hampton Beach doesnt look like backwoods right now lol

Mine has marbles in the clutch at idle. But when the clutch is pushed in, it stops. LEt it back out, and clunkclunkclunkclunkclunk.
I didnt take my car in last week, cuz I couldnt get a loaner, and I cant get the free rental cuz I dont use credit cards. You have to be willing to get ripped by interest rates and use credit cards in order to rent a car.
