As after 4 and half years I am still learning new things about my focus. Here goes the question. I was told by two mechanics from Ford that the  2000-2001 AXT ZX3 Focus, did not need to have the filter cartridge replaced, just to pump out the old fluid and pump in the new fluid. Is this correct? Will this damage the tranny by not replacing the filter cartridge? I have close to 45,000 miles on my focus. The fluid was changed out @ 32,000 miles, but the cartridge is still the original one from the factory. Need some clarification on this. If it does not need replacing, then dan if you read this, then let's just dump out the tranny fluid and add the Amsoil one.
