Someone was wondering about what exactly was the differance between the Kona Edition and the base ZX3.
I found this on MFF and quote "raitchison"
The "Kona Edition" package includes:
2001 "Kona Blast" Mountian Bike
Ford Roof Rack bolted to roof
Mont Blanc Bike Adapter for rack
Kona Logo Tire Tread Side Molding
Kona Logo Tire Tread Rubber Front Floor Mats
Kona Logo washable front seat covers
16" "Machined Finish" 16" Wheels
Silver Face Guage Cluster
Availability of the exclusive "Dirt" color as well as the standard CD Silver and Rainforest Green.
Kona Stats:
5000 Kona Edition ZX3s were made.
~60% were Automatic
~40% were 5 Speeds
~50% were "Dirt"
~35% were CD Silver
~15% were Rainforest Green
~2000 were sold in CA
~1500 were sold in TX
~1500 for the rest of the US and Canada
The Bike is exclusive to the car, is painted "Dirt" colored and came in 3 sizes.
I got a CD Silver auto. I love my car tho. I think it is cool that my car is unique. Konaboy that is cool u have a rare one. I don't think I have seen too many Kona's in green and I live in SoCal. I hope some more Konas join the board.
Yeah, the bike is pretty decent. Kona makes good stuff in my opinion. It's a trail bike though, a pig to ride on pavement if you ask me. Look at the pics in Ride of the Month - my car - I included a pic with at least the front of the Kona bike.

I haven't. I figure, how much better can 2 inch slicks be? Kona started a new line of "pavement" bikes called Dew. They have more realistic tire widths like 32-35. As you know, Mr. V, I've been thinking about getting a new bike that's more road worthy. Can't decide between a true road bike or a commuter bike.
What's the narrowest tire you can use with your rims? Can you use 28's? I think the slicks, especially if they're high pressure, (80-90 psi) would make a significant diff. If you decide to go that route, try to get them with kevlar beads, (foldable). They're a b*** to put on, but they're much lighter & more responsive and ride nicer.
On the other hand, nothing is going to roll like a road bike.

28s! If you mean 2.8 INCHES, sure. It's a true mountain bike; it's tires are 1.95 inches wide with a rim to fit. Exactly how small I could go, I'm not really sure, but I know it's going to be pretty close to the kind of tire on there right now. I've seen some slicks in that range, but figured why bother.
