Hi guys

This is my first post and unfortunaly is because I have an issue with the Focus..

I lent the car to my mom when it was raining cats and dogs and she took the car thru a huge puddle of water and it never run good again..

Is at a complete loss of power. It barely iddles and it dies at iddle.

When I drive (is almost undrivable) it feels like is running in 2 cylinders (powerwise)

but if I unplug the sparkplug wires they are all firing. The car run fine before the incident...

I changed the MAF to see if it was that, and it made no changes.

One thing that I find weird... a lot of heat comes out of the exaust. I mean the rear muffler is hot as hell after driving for 10 minutes.. I mean you could burn yourself if you touch it.

No check engine lights.   They wont read it at autozone and I dont know what kind of reader I can buy so I can scan the car.

On my VW's I use a VAG-Com tool and my laptop and it tell me everything I need to know.. I am new to the Focus scene.

Please help me because I am at a complete loss here..  ;wtf

I could post videos of the car crapping out if you like. but is just like I described above. Thanks.

Stock?  (No cold air intake?)

Pull the spark plugs, clean and regap them.  While out, crank the engine a couple of times and see if any water comes out of the plug holes.

Check the oil.  See if it looks like oil, or if it has a milky appearance to it.  If it does, change it.

Possibilty that the cat got clogged, but thats a long shot there.

yes.. the car is bone stock aside from some projector/Infinity HID head lamps.

I'll go buy new spark plugs and check the oil...

but still sounds weird... I dont think the car got hydrolocked.. It never died or anything.

Could it be that the fuel pump is not working right.. I mean it doenst seem to do anything to do with the water puddle, but could it be that the lack of fuel is making the engine run lean, hence making the exhaust system heat up more than usual?

One more thing... IT DOES MAKE A PUFFING SOUND THAT COMES FROM UNDER THE CAR..????
