well a ZTS isn't an SVT.

The ZTS actually stands for Zetec Touring Sedan.  However, the ZTS was originally the only sedan I think that had the Zetec engine, however, that isn't always the case since my SE has the Zetec engine though I have an 02.  The ZTS came with leather seats, and a rear deck spoiler as well as some other options like ABS I think.  However, as far as powertrain, engine, and suspension goes it has the same bits a regular Zetec powered focus.  The SVT is a whole different brand in and of itself, it makes 170bhp with a modified Zetec engine (different head, higher compression, different exhaust, dual intake runners, among other things, and only comes in a 6-speed manual transmission, it has firmer suspension parts and sits lower, you can only get it in the hatchback version either with 3 or 5 doors.

the ZTS is no faster than an SE with a Zetec, for all mechanical intents and purposes they are identical, the ZTS just has more optional parts as I mentioned.  Same engine otherwise, as for swapping over SVT parts to the standard Zetec, alot more is usually entailed than just simply switching over parts.  To switch over the SVT head you'd be looking at an enormous amount of work because you'd need a new engine harness, the ECU, Cams, cam gears, etc.  It isn't a simple bolt on change.  I think the 6 speed can be adapted to work with the Zetec, however, there really isn't any good reasons to do so, since in all practicality the MTX-75 is stronger than the Getrag 6.  And the exhaust system from the SVT isn't a simple bolt on either, it uses a different style flange, and is a long tube header.  You can buy a modified version that is adapted for the Zetec from anyone that sells Ford Racing parts, however, if you buy the long tube header you also need to buy the Catalytic converter as well because it isn't the same as the one that comes on the zetec.  So in reality you'd be looking at practically an entire exhaust setup, and it's pricey for the minimal gains you get from it.

Some SE's have the same options as the ZTS minus the leather and ABS. My 2000 Sony edition is an SE with the Zetec and the rear wing but did not have fog lights, leather, ABS or rear disk brakes.

I think the ZTS is the only model that gives you the option of getting rear disk brakes. I also beleve it has the wood grane option for the interior. You know how in a base model(s) you can get A, B & C options only but the higher models come with B, C & D options with available E, F & G options. Well the ZTS is top-o-line for what its worth.
