with the new model out it would be interesting to see what performance model you get in the uk before the rs comes out we are getting the st 220 early next year its a 2.5l 5 cylinder turbo (the old volvo t5 engine) supposedly its 11 seconds quicker round the nurburg ring than the rs heres a pic what does everyone think
Sorta, the ST170 was called the Focus SVT here, same engine and gearbox, much different looking front end, we did eventually get a Euro SVT, but that was only Euro style wheels, and some HID headlights, the front bumper/grill combo was still boring as ever in the states. We no longer have that option our current "high-end" is called simply the ST it's a sedan, and it has the 2.3L 16V "duratec" engine, I realize the engine names are entirely different between the two countries, either way it's pretty lack luster, only making ~150bhp and ~150btq from that 2.3L engine.
Colin. The Focus SVT here is basicly the ST170 with a US wrapper(SVT has the 170HP motor with duel stage intake, tuned exhaust and suspension to handle the power). No cool reont bumper, no cool interiot door handles, and no cool anything else ST170 cool
I actually don't mind it. I am still sad the old Focus headlights are now a thing of the past, but damnit, why can't we get some of these Euro tuned and dressed cars over here?!!!
We have Audi's and Volvos...I want the 220!

I like the new ST 220. Looks awesome. No we will not get the ST220 here in the states. Rumor has it that we Are supposed to get the AWD Turbocharged SVTF again sometime in 06 as an 07 model. No, we also never got the ST170, we did have the SVTF like Dan and RPIG stated. However, if I am not misstaken, Europe also got the focus ZX3 that was like the SVTF here in the US. But I am not sure if that was the ST170 or not.
the original focus over here came out with 1.4l yamaha derived zetec badged not the same as the bigger engines a 1.6l the smallest of the zetec engines then there is the 1.8 115bhp and 2.0l 130bhp zetec (the 2.0l is the equivilent of your zx3) these engines are the same apart from the differences that make one a 1.8 and the other the 2.0l then came the later 2.0 duratec which is the 170bhp st170 engine an last of the old model was the rs which you guys have the rs is actually a turbocharged zetec its only badged as a duratec this was done so the car could be released earlier
