 I just wanted to remind ppl. that to gain new members, we have to take into account that there will be those who like the new design (i have likes and dislikes) and will purchase and have purchased the new 2005 model.

We want them as memebers, so I will ask, for all of us and I know I speak for a majority of the moderators here - let's not dog the new model and try to accept it for what it is.  A Focus.

I would like to officially welcome all new members and owners of the new ST ZX4's and the new SE ZX3's!
You are welcome and please, don't feel you will be badgered or attacked.  If that happens, we as Moderators will step in aggressively.  You're a Focus Owner and we want all you have to offer this site and ask as many questions as you like.

I for one am looking forward to learning more about the new models.

Casco Bay Ford had one on the lot the other day and I stopped in to look at it.  I've got mixed feelings about the interior, but it would certainly grow on me in a hurry.  If it has the SVT suspension, it sure doesn't look like it, as it still sits pretty high off the ground, and it almost looks like FoMoCo increased the fender wheels, because I'd give two nuts to bet it had more gap than mine does on stock SE suspension.  Otherwise, it is a very similar car to what we all know and love, the major difference being the front of the car, from straight on the overall shape of the car is pretty much the same, they moved the turn signals inside the headlight housing, which is much cleaner in my opinion, however, what they did to the front quarter panels is not as pleasant to my eyes...it has the same smooth flowing line as the older models moving from the doors towards the front, and then...abruptly and without warning it drops down, leaving a weird feeling, and the side of the headlight exposed, it actually reminds me of a camry (not really the styling I go for in a car).  I've yet to drive one yet, but I'm assuming it will be similar to those with a PZEV such as Puck(Jim, has he made it over here yet?).  Otherwise...I know one thing, if you have one with the red seat inserts don't bring it near me...I'll steal them.

Actually, they contacted me a week or so ago telling me they had a silver one on the lot...I was tempted but at $18K, and me spending $14.995 on my SVT, I don't think my trade in would be that great.  I thought about trading the SVT and a 98 Hyundai Elantra I was given with 17,000 miles on it towards it..I guess I need to go look at it.  Sometimes I miss the 4-doors.

:D We can only wish, but no - it's the "regular" ZX3 Model for 05 and all of the new 05's come with a Duretec, not a Zetec...that is from what I understand, please feel free to correct me all.

Yes, all the Foci come standard with a Duratec now and no more Zetec, however, the ST has a 2.3L Duratec, and the other Foci come with a 2.0L Duratec...I haven't seen any word about the power on that...nor have I seen anything talking about whether or not there is a SPI left out there either

I likes the 2.3....so you can't get it as an upgrade in a ZX3 anymore?  I thought for a while you could....??

$18k for the ST? Yeah, that's a bit of a climb for a non-SVT. I paid $15,600 for my SVTf, and plan on keeping it as long as I can. The ST is a 'step down' in perfomance from the SVT, but it's a step up from base. I'm bummed that we won't have the same platform as the rest of the world (AGAIN!! we get screwed!!!!). I'd love to have a Cossie Focus in my driveway one day.

I'm personally not a big fan of the new styling. But then again I didn't like the Focus when it came out at first (or the 2gen Escort GT which I own 3 of). Ford has been making styling 'mistakes' a lot over the years. The 1 before this was on the ZX2 when they gave it the "Taurus nose" a couple modle years ago.

Ok guys got soem info this weekend just to confuse you some more. Was at a dealership in ME after hours and found this out.

2005 Focus ZX4 S    yes just S with a 2.0L

2005 Focus ZX4 SES    with 2.0L

There was no ZX4 ST there or any 2.3L there either.

So is this selling me that there is gonna be like 20 differant combinations of Focus's out there ZX3 S, ZX3 SE, ect. ect. This is all getting confusing...........:X:?:?

the styling is growing on me, but the price certainly isn't...Man, for that much money you can almost get a **gulp** Dodge SRT-4 and blow the doors off the ST.

Ok....

So I went and test drive one today (yes it was an ST)... Well the salesman went with me and I wasn't too awfully impressed. I couldn't beat on it too much but it seemed only a little pepier than the 2.0 Zetec. The shifter was smooth and almost fell into the gears. The clutch was really easy to push in and almost felt too soft. Car only had 52 Miles on it.

The salesman was raving about how the car is just a powerful as the SVT and has the same suspension but is so much less than the cost of the SVT. SO i told him it ws about the same and that a couple yers back the 02 model was selling at Autofair for 14K and that shocked him.

I really do hate salesman...:X

yeah I think that Ford "magically" tried raising the prices on the Focus...The ST is reedikilous expensive, and I'm seeing SVT's for like 20K+...ummm...for that I think I'll get a different car.

Demand is up for smaller vehicles with lower fuel consumption. I doubt that that demand will fall anytime soon. Higher demand= higher prices.
