yeah i know how to read a dyno graph, but fortunately enough nissan was smart enough to have the spec reach its peak hp way before the redline, even allowing for us to use the cvtc before we hit that damn limiter at 6300 lol. but yeah chelly i would love to autocross, although going through orange cones isnt my idea of fun. once i get my safc tuned and do some suspension work ill hit up the dragstrip in epping NH with you. oh and btw, yes the spec does pull all the way from 3000. and he did say spec v in the title.
and 130 lbs isnt alot, 30 more lbft is plenty enough to move the spec faster, whats the stock duratech run anyways? my friends mom has the zx5 and i didnt see anything spectacular from that motor.
again, not trying to bash the focus.

I'll race you @ Epping sometime, and I know I won't lose.
The 100lbs. difference doesn't make up alot of time in the 1/4 mile. For every 100lbs. you take off your car you pick up .1 sec. The SER v spec does have alot of tq, but could use more hp. I have raced a spec-V, and beat him, but I would be surprised if a 2.3 could beat one. Like he said the SER and the SER spec V look almost identical except for the 17" wheels.
I thought the 2004 SER spec V's were good looking. But I don't like the 2005 styling. That bar that runs down the center of the grill is ulgy. I can't beleive that it only weighs 100lbs more than the foci, our cars need to go on a diet.

Here's the downlow on the engines in the 2005 focus, but remember the 2.0 & 2.3 Duratecs have been out in these cars beginning as early as 2003.
2.0L DOHC Duratec 20, 4-cylinder engine produces 136 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 133 lb-ft. of torque at 4,500 rpm.
2.3L DOHC Duratec 23, 4-cylinder offers 151 hp @ 5,750 rpm, with 154 lb-ft. of torque available at 4,250 rpm. This engine is mated only to the 5-speed manual transmission.
These two here are based on stock engines...it can build significantly from there

I know that you are not bashing the focus nissmo, but I did say that it was a girl that was driving the sentra and yes it did have 17 inch rims on. Iam not saying that girls/women can't shift, hell chelly knows how to shift her focus. The one in the sentra granny clutched the tranny, gears where grinding like crazy. That's why I launched faster than she did. I will even give you the name of the person that I went against in the Gran Prix GT.
You guy/gals sure take your racing personally. I started driving just at the end of the muscle car era. It amazing to see how these 4 cylinder engines perform compared to those 400hp monsters, most stockers back then would turn quarter mile @ 105mph. I think the stock '05 ZX3 2.0L Duratec will do it at almost 90mph in the quarter. Just me personally, I'd rather my car look cool. My haulin ass days are behind me. Most of the time
i rather go fast than look good.... i just got back from boston....smoked a celica GT on the way back on the pike....i beat him doing 125mph....lol i loved it.....I LOVE SPEED...I LOVE THE ADRENALIN RUSH...

You wanna launch quick off the line go buy a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. That AWD and Turbo sure helps alot in getting thoes hole shots....my manager has one and it fucking hauls ass......and it comes with 276HP stock lol....put a down pipe on them, and they run 13.6 in the 1/4, but now that my tranny is fucked i won't be racing for a while....
And Chelly i applaud your apparent ability to shift right cuase most girls cant, thats why i am doing a new tranny....stupid girl can't shift and grinded the shit outta 3rd.....now it makes noises everytime i hit 3rd.....stupid ass girls grrrrrrrrrr
We love you chelly lol

As I've said, I don't condone street racing, but I do know my way around a car.
I'm a 34 yo woman who was born under a chevy Big Block. I bleed blue and If I had my druthers, I'd be cruizin in a 69 RS/SS Camaro.
Alas, the days of the true muscle are over and the cost to run those beasts takes over and I must step back and sit into my '03 2.3 Duratec 5spd and only admire the growling engine and need to release those ponies.
I prefer the quarter mile when it comes to racing. My father is in the process of building up a 1970 Camaro with over 600hp which I had hoped for this year to make it's premier in Epping. It may happen, it may not. I don't know, but what I do know is that I will be sitting in the driver's seat a few times. My father knows my capabilities and trusts my driving, so that to me is all I need to know I can handle any car thrown my way.
Don't underestimate the power of the Duratec - This car has incredible potential and has been hanging out in Ford Trucks for many years now, so there is a good strong base of information. I won't mod my car until I'm nearing it's warranty end and I won't risk losing my warranty because someone finds out I raced. I can tell you that there is a clause in Mitsubisi warranties now that states they will not cover damage due to use outside of recommended. So, that Evo, if it drops it's tranny and someone squeals to Mitsu, that person's out a whole lotta $$$ to replace it.
I'm practical with a wild side. This car is my every day driver and I don't have the $$$ to blow it up racing, but I did keep up with this guy in the GT and if he was just too chicken to push it I don't know.
It's not always the car - The driver has the control over the vehicle and pushes it, so if the driver is afraid, then the car wont perform.
I'll also add...you need to know the limits of your vehicle...from top to bottom. If you're running rubber that has a rating of under 100mph, you'd better bet you're risking a blow-out if you're pushing your car higher just to street race. I can't tell you how many times I've backed off a car that challenged me just because I saw the crap they had on for sneakers.
BTW - As far as women driving - I completely agree...there are more women out there that know nothing about cars, but there are just as many men. Hate to say it fellas, but I know men who wouldn't know what to look for under the hood if they needed to check their oil or their air filter. Also, Anyone heard of Danica Patrick or even Bunny Burkett?
