Well I finally got to make a couple passes at the drag strip. It started out as a day to go get dynoed, a friend/customer of mine that I sponsor in autocrossing invited me to the Ford SVTOA dyno day, which is open to all makes and models.

I get there probably around 11am and there were several people there including a Roush Ford F150, several SVT Mustang Cobras and a SVT Focus. Well one thing led to another and about 3pm I left as it was pretty apparent I wasnt going to be able to get on.

Well another friend/customer I sponsor in motorbike drag racing invited me to the track today as well as he was going to be doing some test and tune on his drag bike. He races in the super gas class I believe it is, 9.90 brackets. So I head out there and pay to make some passes.

First car I was up against was a Camaro RS with slicks on. I dont know what happened to him as I expected to at least not fall behind too far. I ended up clobbering him.

RT - .435
60' - 2.466
330' - 6.509
1/8 - 9.849
1/8 MPH - 73.44
1000' - 12.727
1/4 - 15.142
MPH - 94.59

I could not get traction to save my life. It seemed like I spun the tires all the way through the 60' mark and then some. The camaro ran a 17.479 @ 90.47. My reaction time sucked, and traction was non-existent.

The next pass I was up against a Toyota SUV with a V8 in it. The driver was a friend of the guy I sponsor and while he is young, he is a pretty talented driver, he knows what he is doing. Reaction time was better, 60' still hugged a root.

RT - .293
60' - 2.408
330' - 6.442
1/8 - 9.777
1/8 MPH - 73.68
1000' - 12.645
1/4 - 15.050
1/4 MPH - 95.00

Again I could not get any traction at all and the SUV pulled at least two car lengths ahead of me but once I got traction it was all over. He ran a 15.765 @ 84 mph. I just barely had caught him at the 330' mark and had pulled away at the 1/8 mile mark.

I really wanted to be in the 14's, but that just aint happening with the 60' times. I wish I had had more time to make at least a couple more passes. I think I could have gotten my RT's even better.

I tried rolling into the throttle, but when I see that last yellow light, my instinct is just the mash the thing and go. I did have the TC turned off or I think it would have been much worse as the computer tried to get things under control.

Much work to do indeed. I dont like the times, but its a start.

I have a scan from my tuner that shows my traction was only about 30 - 40% until I hit second gear just to give you an idea of how much torque the thing was putting down in the lower band.

Oh, and if the scan data is to be believed, which I have no reason at this point not to, I was putting in about 10lbs of boost at launch and nearly 13lbs when I crossed the line.

I need to make a correction, I read the wrong column at the end of the scan, I was putting in nearly 9lbs of boost.  But that will soon change, I have a smaller pulley to put on and that should bump me about 2lbs.
