im heading up to windham this sunday for the auto x event up there, and was looking for some pointers. im an aggressive driver on the street, but this is going to be totally different, and dont wanna risk effing up the SVT. was jus lookin to see what works out best with them, and what doesnt work so good, such as tracion control...on or off using the switch? or completely kill it with the kill switch? any help would be great, thanks

imHo,
from the auto-x'ing i've done,
you're going to want a kill switch for the TC.
i pulled my fuse for the runs i did.
one run i forgot,
and it was a nightmare.
because even with the "off switch"
its still on below 20mph,
and because in auto-x you are -frequently- below that,
its a -huge- liability.
the only risk with a full kill switch,
is you don't have ABS,
so you have to be -really- careful not to lock up,
because if you do,
you risk flat-siding your tires.
i'm no expert, though.

thanks jhimm...yeah, i did it, it was a friggin blast. killed my tc fully with the switch, and used the "left foot braking", kept the speed down (somewhat) and only locked up my brakes good once, but luckily no flat spotting, just some worn out $h*tty contisports that dont like auto x.
I also have a website that might help you out. It talking about driving techniques and the different types of motorsports. It is just a motorsports site so you might find it of interest. Check it out. http://www.focusmotorsports.com Lately the site has been boomin and growing.

winter time will be a nice time to "experiment more" with what this thing can handle in regards to performance driving. as long as i can afford some tires, you may even consider me a member somewhere next year
03ChromeChica wrote: oh yes and im pretty sure your experimenting is going to consist of me in the passengers seat strapped in with my video camera in hand
i never said nothin...you volunteered yourself now!

I can see it now... sliding sideways across parking lots and seeing snowbanks approach faster than i can record.. will be good times to remember.. if we come out of the snowbank before spring time
I trust ya, if you can bring it, i can take it.
