Yeah…I know it’s not a Focus…but people always ask why I didn’t drive the GTI to one of the g2g or the autocrosses. It is my other baby who has been neglected so I can upgrade the SVTF….but time has come when the GTI needs some luv….so, I made some calls and the process is going to start…
The vehicle is an 83 VW Rabbit GTI w/16V. The bottom of the motor is from a 90 VW Golf and the top of the motor is from a 88 16V VW Scirocco…What a nightmare…for a tuner…I have a friend who is pretty familiar with them and so we decided to get it going….
It has the major pieces in place i.e. a Bilstein coilovers, ATS 16” wheels, Kumho tires, Recarro seats, full roll cage and so on…
I was going to replace the whole engine but since the engine has low mileage and was completely built (strengthened) with forged pistons, etc., instead we opted on making what’s in it run the way it should or could…
On the list is a Techtonics 2.5 Borla Exhaust, Fuel Enrichment Kit, new wiring harness, injectors, new air box since the one in it currently does not close completely as well as anything else we find is needed along the way…I will keep everyone posted…Here are some pics…

It is about time the blue box comes out of the garage. Last time I have seen that box on the road was in 2003. Now my question is, will you autox the blue box or is it purely for show?
