How do you remove the corner vents from ur dash? I tried to see if they just popped out or had a clip similar to the blower vents, but no such luck. They in there good. I wanna paint em to match my vents so how do i get em off?

Also, same question for the piece that surrounds ur door handles, haven't tried popping it yet but while i'm here, might as well ask!

THANKS!

The piece around the door handles is pretty simple. If my memory serves me right, you need to take off the little screw cover in the center of the handle, and take that srcrew out, then you should be able to cover a screwdriver and get it in there and pry it off... its pretty strong.. any other ?'s, let me know.

What am I omnipotent? I've never actually attempted to take those off my car... so I don't really know, I'd go out and give it a shot but it's wet and nasty outside right now, if I get a chance tomorrow I'll take a peek at them, but I was pretty sure they just popped out.

They just pop off from what have heard. I have never done it.

I do know that Chelly's AC knobs are super glued on or somthing because it took 15 minutes of pulling at one with plyers to get it off.

They may just be on really really hard like. If you are not sure how somthing comes appart go to the junk yard and try to pull the part from a wrecked car(to see how it comes off not necesseraly to buy it). Brake a part that is already broken or from a car that it does not matter if the part brakes.

Yes they do pop out but there is only one side that you can take a small screw driver to without breaking the clip. I don't remember which side it is. LOL sorry!:gofast

It's the side facing the center of car, on each triangle.

so if the left one looks like /__ (roughly) it's this side. Similarly the right one like this /__ needs to have a small flathead or butterknife taken to this / side to pop it off. So pry on the side trying to pop it kinda toward you and the door's window.

Sorry that's the best way I can explain it.:blah

Oh yeah and the door handle insert piece just needs the same small flat object to pop it out, right in the middle of the piece lengthwise, on the bottom so if it indents the plastic at all, you can't tell.

Ok that's the weirdest thing I've ever seen...

On my original (and beautiful no?) diagrams, the missing side shoulda been a backslash, the one that shares a button with | above Enter...

Yeah, so hopefully you got the point anyway... weird.

New Topic: Spoken with a few peeps who have an aftermarket Throttle Body. What does this part do and how does it affect performance to get an aftermarket one? That is to say, what does it impact to increase hp/torque/or whatever it is that it increases.

How's a wee lad to learn without dumb questions like the above? hehe :stup

It increases the diameter of the incoming air pipe, thus the area and volume if incoming air is higher. It effectivly lowers in the intake pressure required to fill the cylinders, thus the air flows better.

You usually want to port match the intake manifold to the TB by either having it bored out, or you can dremel it yourself... but it is best to do it off the engine so you dont get metal flakes inside the engine.

You mean plastic flakes :D

what you will see out of a TB is more of a throttle response than anything else. I also saw a 1-2 mpg increase when I had one on my car. The car will rev up quicker. People have ported out there stock throttle bodies to get the same increased throttle response.  A ported is fine with a stock to lightly modded car and the 65mm+ is recomended for FI. But the 65mm will also work fine on a stock car. It's up to you what you do.

If you like I have a Blue Focus Central Throttle body for sale. Bough it new for Chelly's car and less than a week after we put it on is when her car met the I93 guard rail. It has under 100 miles on it. PM me if your interested.

I havent taken the intake out, but I assumed the intake manifold was metal. Is it? or perhaps only the SVT one is metal?

you don't port the intake manifold (which is plastic on the Zetec) you port the throttle body which is plastic in stock form.

Intale manifold is plactic. Yours probably is also. I haven't really looked at an SVT to notice.

Also the valve cover is plastic(you probably know that). The head is al-u-minium and the block is steal(cast Iron??). I think if ford had there way the head would be plastic and the exhaust manifold would be plastic also just to save a buck....

Only the early 2000 focuses had a metal intake manifold and magnizium(metal) valve cover. The metal intake manifolds are highly sough after for tuning.

Joe.. people with a 65mm TB port the intake manifold (it is not required to do this) so it matches the TB. If you port the stock TB you don't have to port the intake manifold.

Me and Chelly's Duratecs have all aluminum blocks:D

As opposed to the Zetecs, which do indeed have cast-iron ones.

I found this kinda cool site on FRPP, let's see if it works right:
http://www.fordracingparts.com/crateengine/fourcyl.asp

I liked it.
