OK. So I'm driving to Sanford. About half way there I feel a tapping on the top of my foot. I reach down and there's a wire hanging. I figure it's something that was strapped to under the steering column or something and I'll tuck it away later.

Get to the girlie's mom's house. Get ready to leave. Car won't turn over. It has power, everything appears normal, starter doesn't even try. My first guess is the computer chip key being goofy so I try the spare key. Nope. Oh wait! A wire was hanging...uh oh... So I crank up the flash light and start looking for where this wire with the odd looking plug could plug into. After much searching (and taking my lower dash on the drivers side off at 930 at night on a dark back road stopping every 5 min to recrank my flashlight that doesn't use batteries) I discover it attached to my clutch pedal. It's the damn sensor that detects that I've pushed the clutch in!!!

So I pull the damn thing off the pedal and turns out the sensor is fine, but the part that has the plunger on it that connects the two electrodes on the sensor when you push it down broke (maybe I kicked it somehow?). So I grab a wire and the girlie turns the key while I trigger the sensor so that I can drive home.

Bleh. Ok, so anyone have an idea how much this little part will cost? It's a black plastic clip with a gray plunger sticking out the front and when the plunger lowers, it's supposed to move this copper piece into position to connect these two metal plates that are the sensor. If that copper piece completes the circuit, the computer thinks the pedal is down. It's got two numbers on it but I didn't find any info on it, U3NFA and 94BB-11A152-AC. I don't know if either of these is a part number or useful at all.

THANKS! Gary

Fordparts.com doesn't recognize the longer # as being a valid part, I didn't try the shorter one since it looks way too short.

I'd try calling a dealer Parts counter and describing it, or if you can remove the bit (?) take it into the counter yourself and explain where it was, ask if they've got another lying around?

It cheap... like $15 at Portsmouth Ford, I busted mine like a year and a half ago.. took me like 5 min to change the broken one for the new one.

Could just do that Audio and J suggested too... save yourself the $15 ;)

I wouldnt worry about it Jay, mine didnt just fall out, i kinda kicked up in there by accident (foot slipped) and pulled it out that way. Luckly I was going on my 1st date with Bill so he fixed it for me so i could get home :)
