I think the Bosal makes my ZX3 illegal. The sedan should pass, after all its stock. My truck probably won't pass. It has no cats, has headers, is loud, and the "smog pump" is detached and missing. But I don't live in CA and don't have to worry about any of that hoopla required over there.:D

But this is a good thing to know for you west coast folks.

Hmmm - This is interesting - Since Christmas I've had one mod done that I can't find to be ok or not.

Dan got me a FC 65mm TB and it's installed.  Also have new brakes thanks to him :o)

I've removed my air intake resonator box off and outside of that, nothing much.

My tint is legal. :driv

all i can say is that ca sucks....there are so many things that are illegal to put on a car from ignition, intake, exhaust...etc...that i say the heck with them....as long as certain items are not on your car durring the bi-yearly smog inspection go ahead and do what ever you want.....besides all it takes is a little elbow grease and you are all set...:D

The sad part here is that CA emissions are something we here in NE need to pay strong attention to as well.  Many laws about emissions from CA are being adopted throughout the states.  I'm not complaining about it.  I think it's good actually when you look at the smog around large metropolises.  I'd rather not have that problem over here.  I lived in Denver for 2 years in the early 90's and every night you could see a brown/orange cloud that surrounded the city.  It was gross and health wise, terrible for those like myself with asthma and other lung diseases.

In ME, where I'm from, basically you can't do any modification from stock if you really look into the laws.  My father has been in the automotive business for nearly 40 years and he's now the manager of one of the Meineke's in Portland (just bought).  He'll fail you if you modify your exhaust.  One of his friends that used to own a brake shop on Forest Ave had his license to inspect taken away and his shop has closed because he ok'd inspections on modified cars that were modified illegally.

It's better to be safe than sorry.  IMHO - if you get nailed for an illegally modified vehicle, it's your own fault.  Mind you, I don't agree with all of the laws.  One of my pet peeves - Why can trucks and SUV's have totally blacked out tint when you can easily carry more people and weapons than in a car?

i totally agree with you...i talked to the head person for the smog restrictions who is the person who gave me the internet address and basicly it comes down to if i want a car that i can do anything to i can get a vehicle that is smog excempt "from 1978 and back" if i do that i can do anything i want to them produce 10 times the ammount of smog and polutants on that vehicle and it's legal......but if i want to do anything to my vehicle and produce 10 times less polutants as the previous vehicle it's not legal.....it just doesn't make sense sometimes....

im good the only mod is a H&R cup kit. otherwise if i did do any future mods making sure they are legal and smog passable are musts for me. i don't feel like dealing with taking things on or off.

Not even a little bit. I don't think any of my performance mods are legal. Maybe the magnaflow. I'm not really sure about that I didn't get any papers with it saying it was legal.
