any one heard of the de-locking mod? Was on another site and was reading it. the only problem is from my newbie knowledge to mods i am having a hard time understanding the instructions, no pictures were included to help. but basically go to ford purchase bezels and he lost me at removing door panel, and i am a mechanical inclined individual but the explanation was just not there. If anyone could explain this mod step by step it would be highly appreciated. on vacation car was broken into with a object or key through key hole alarm sounded they still managed to grab a few items. thanks.totally enjoy this site .

As you may have seen from some FFOC members cars there are caps fitted over the locks where the key enters. This is considered to be one of the easiest, cheapest and effective modifications for the Focus, whether a 3 or 5 door.
So how’s it done? Obtain the bezels that are used on a 5 door from your local Ford dealer under part number: 1107477. You will need one for each door and they retail at £2.50 each.
Fitment will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes each side. Once the interior wing mirror covers and door panels have been removed, cut back the top corner of the weather shield. Once removed you will see a torque screw that requires slackening off just enough to remove the existing bezel, then replace with the blanking door lock cap.
No further possible intrusions by key tampering, but ensure that your remote battery is in good order. If you are unfortunate enough for it to run flat, then entry will only be possible through the boot.
I know someone wrote up a how-to on FF too, I'll see if I can find it and post it here. It didn't have any pics but I think it was written a bit more clearly.
I have the painted handles and "delocked" bezels for this mod, just haven't gotten around to it... maybe end of March though.
It's easy to get the door panel off, the only hard part is you need the same bit to get the handle off as you need to get the MAF out of the housing. (T20 star bit from Autozone pn: 2001. Its the star bit that has the hole in the center of it.)
Inside the door panel just opposite the lock bezel is a small oval rubber plug. Pull out the plug and look into the hole. You can see the screw with the star head holding the bezel on. Remove the screw, it's about 2 inches long, I backed it out about 3/4 inch, then put tape around the star bit to catch the screw so it didnt fall into the bottom of the door panel. You can do this mod without removing the inner door liner, unless you drop the screw, but if you drop the screw inside the door, good luck ever finding it again. Once the screw is out the lock bezel pops off and the handle comes out. There is one screw that holds the bezel on, and the bezel holds the handle on. Once the bezel is off, just pull the handle back and out, it slides right out.
Just replace everything in reverse order. DONT OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREW it is plastic and easy to strip. Make sure you order the handle and bezel, they come seperate. Takes 30-45 min a side, real easy. The power lock/non power lock cars are about the same on the install.
That's all the pertinent info on install.
Here's the part # (from MAZDA) for the little bezel/cap without the keyhole in it:
EC02-72-415D-49 (-49 = Twilight Blue)
~Note, Ford makes "delocked" bezels as well but I think they only come primered or in black, no other colors, so your best bet is a Mazda counter if the Tribute comes in your color.
Painted handles Option 1 (off Focus SVT, so SVT colors ONLY, order from FORD)
2T2Z-7822404-BEC (-BEC = CD Silver)
Painted handles Option 2 (off MAZDA TRIBUTE, same as Focus, order from MAZDA):
EC02-58-413G-85 (-85 = black so you could order this or Ford SVT handles with Ford's "black" code, which I don't know)
If your Focus isn't any of these coded colors, you'll need to find the code to go after the last hyphen (or possibly ask the Parts guy once he pulls up the screen for the part). With Ford ordering you'll only have SVT colors available, at Mazda you'll need to see if any year Tribute came in a Focus color.
~Although Escapes and Tributes are virtually the same vehicle, Escapes were given chunkier/more square handles so they aren't a perfect match like Focus/Tribute ones, so if an Escape came in your color but a Tribute didn't, you're SOL it seems.
~Lastly, the part number's color code is NOT the same as the paint code found in your doorjamb or wherever. Because that would make life simpler, so it can't work... example: CD silver's Ford part "suffix" is BEC, but its paint code on the door is called TS. Putting TS at the end of the part # will do you no good, so you could try telling the Parts guy "it's silver, code TS" and see if he can cross-reference, otherwise... there must be another way to hunt it down.
