Physicaly it should bolt up. The SVT uses the same block as the Zetec. Computerwise I am not sure.

I think there are some other limitations also, I'm not sure, but I don't even think the clutch is the same or anything is it?

Now that I think of it the SVT has a differant flywheel but changing that over would cure the clutch issue. I beleve the flywheel bolts dirrectly to the crank.

People have talked about this in the past, IMO I don't think it is worth while. The MTX tranny is stronger than the svtf's tranny. Also the parts for the tranny are alot cheaper. If you want a better tranny you should look into getting a 4.06 gear swap and a Quaife LSD. It will blow the svtf tranny out of the water. And it would probility be cheaper.

The SVT tranny is just as good if not better than the MTX75.  The only weakness in the SVT is the flywheel.  It will work, you will need the cpu, and the halfshafts are different.  It is basicly no harder than doing a normal tranny.  You juct need the right parts.  Is it worth it??  Only you can make that decision.  How many of our mods are really worth it?  they don't raise the value of the car.  If I came across a SVT tranny at the right price I would do it in a heartbeat.  I had an SVTF and I loved the gearing.

Actually the SVT tranny isn't as strong as the MTX-75. It's the reason why Ford used the MTX-75 with slightly different synchros and gearing in the RS. :)

I'm not sure about in the states but in Europe the MTX75 is a Getrag/Ford.  So are quite a few other trannies.  in 2001 Ford and Getrag went in 50/50 to build trannies.

where do you see that the MTX75 is a getrag? Because, unless I'm having a serious stroke, the MTX75 has been in Fords lineup well before the focus even hit market. Wasn't it in the Cougar? I don't think the MTX75 is a getrag/ford, new transmissions maybe, and I seriously doubt that they are here in the US because if they were Ford would tote that little tid bit of knowledge hoping to sell more Focus, they are quick to tell you that it's a Getrag-6 in the SVT.

The contour also had the MTX tranny.
I'd be surprised if that was correct, but then again Europe gets all the cool shit.

It's not in that link I posted, but google -ford getrag- and there are other stories about it.  As I said I think it is only in europe.  The MTX75 has been around but from reading some of the other artilces since 2001 getrag has had 50% of their hands in producing alot of the manual trannies for Ford, Ford has the other 50%.

I think what that means is that the MTX75 which was fords predating the Ford-Getrag partnering, so Ford brought the MTX75 to the table, and Getrag brings the 6 speed SVT tranny to the table, now it's 50-50. The MTX75 has been around in Ford's lineup before the Ford-Getrag thing, so I would wager a guess that it's the same tranny the world around (except for those pesky synchros)

yeah I saw that also, but my point was, not all of those Tranny's are Ford's Trannys and in the same way not all of them are Getrag's trannys. Ford had rights to their MTX75 before they parntered, just like Getrag had rights to some of their transmissions. Saying it's a Getrag even though it existed before they paired is like saying I own Ford Motor Company because I bought a Focus.
