What you need:
3-1/4" inlet air filter (3" will work, but it's a TIGHT fit!)
I got mine at Advance Auto, the "Power Adder" universal cone filter, fits 3", 3.5" and 4"
Step 1
Jack up the car, remove the driver's side wheel
Remove the inner fender plastic thing
Remove the lower splash pan (lots of 9/32" bolts)
Step 2
Remove / loosen the hose clamps on the air intake box. There's one up high and there's one on the hose that wraps around the frame. Pop the hoses off after you get the clamps lose.
Now removed the two 8mm bolts you see holding the air box. To remove the airbox, pull directly back towards the hub, and the airbox will pop out.
Now remove the hose that runs up high in the fender. It should just pull out.
Step 3
Go up top and loosen the hose clamp between the resonator and the TB tube.
Remove the two 8mm bolts holding the MAF sensor to the resonator.
Pull up HARD on the resonator and remove it. There's a pin on the bottom popped into a rubber grommet in the frame, so you gotta pull hard.
Step 4
Remove the 1/2" bolt holding the MAF to the frame.
Remove the MAF sensor harness from the MAF. To do so, pull the red clip straight out (it'll click, it moves about 1/4"), and pull hard to separate the plug from the MAF.
Take the MAF tube out.
Step 5
Put your new filter on the (lower) end of the MAF.
-- if using the filter I used, the easiest way was to put the 3" sleeve on the MAF. Don't use the 3-1/2" sleeve. Slide the filter with the 4" sleeve over the 3" sleeve as far as you can. When you tighten the hose clamp it'll make a tight seal.
-- if using a different filter, put it over the end of the tube and tighten the clamp, but DO NOT overtighten, as the MAF tube is only made of plastic!
Step 6
Put the MAF back in place and tighten the 1/2" bolt back down.
Put the resonator back in place (pop it back into the rubber grommet) and tighten it down. Be easy with the 8mm bolts- again, not much is needed for a good seal.
Put the splash guard and inner fender back together.
Step 7
Enjoy the improved throttle response. It's not much louder than stock, but the throttle response is much improved.

Lack of pics FTL. If I was doing it over again I'd take pics through every step.
