Here they are: the directions for my H-M Performance type 3 intake.

Materials:
7-1/2" of 3.5" aluminized steel tubing (available at a local diesel or exhaust shop)
Cone filter that fits 3.5" intakes (available at AutoZone)
3" rubber PVC pipe coupling, cut about in half
Breather filter OR 2' of hose that fits the breather tube AND a pipe fitting that fits it (to retain PCV)
(Optional heat shield how to: http://www.teamfocus.us/makeaheatshield.htm )

Tools:
Torx security bits (the ones with the hole in the middle)
Rachet + Socket set
Screwdrivers
OPTIONAL (if retaining PCV): Drill and bit to fit pipe fitting and a file

Step 1
Disconnect battery and all that jazz. You know the deal! While you're at it, run a towel through the pipe several times to ensure it is clean inside.

Step 2
Disconnect MAF sensor fromt harness. Remove the stock airbox. You'll need the Torx bits to take the MAF off. You can leave the air snorkle hose intact if you wish, but I'd remove it, and if you're using a heat shield too, it's useless. Leave the stock tube that goes between the MAF and TB alone.

Step 2.5
OPTIONAL with PCV rentention: Drill a hole in the tube and attatch the pipe fitting. Clean the hole up with a file, and run a towel through the tube several times to ensure no metal shavings get into your engine. BAD!!!!
OPTIONAL with breather filter: Put the breather filter on the valve cover.

Step 3
Stretch the PVC clamp halfway over one end of the hose. It's a stretch. Then use one of the hose clamps that came with it to snug it up. Slide the filter side of the MAF sensor (the side where the Torx screws were) into the other end of the PVC clamp and tighten down. (If using the heat shield, put it on now, slide it tight against the MAF end of the tube). On the other side of the tube, put the filter on.

Step 4
Place the intake in place of the old airbox. Replace the MAF back into it's old spot on the TB tube. Tighten everything down and plug the MAF back in. If retaining PCV, run the hose from the valve cover to the fitting in the intake and clamp down.

Step 5
Hook up the battery and start the car. If the car fails to start, ensure that the MAF is plugged in correctly. I learned this through experience. The car may idle high for a while while it gets used to the added airflow. This will go away.
